Charlotte was Faraday's student at Queen's College, Oxford University, and they began a romance.
Charladay are Adam and Eve somehow.
Daniel Faraday is Charlotte's father. In the far future he will return to 1979 and father her, teaching her all she needs to know to be prepared for her island trip.
They previously had a relationship, most likely at Oxford, but things went wrong and they split. Now that Daniel Faraday has lost his memory Charlotte hopes to have a fresh start.
