Eko's cross
From Lostpedia
Mr. Eko and Yemi, his brother, both at some point wear a silver cross on a silver chain. Originally Eko's, Yemi took it when Eko was taken by the militia. Eko regains it when he takes it from Yemi's dead body on the Island. Eventually, he sees a vision of Yemi again ("The Cost of Living") and holds the cross at him.
It acts as a reminder to Eko's religious past and a symbol of fraternal and religious bonds.
This, and his stick are are the only things Eko has in way of possessions.
Timeline
Eko wore the cross as a child. When Eko's killed a man to spare Yemi from having to kill him, the militia ripped it from Eko's neck. Yemi picked it up and began to wear it. It was next seen around Yemi's neck when he was taken onboard the drug smugglers' plane after being shot. When Eko and Charlie found the Beechcraft, Eko found the cross on Yemi's body, and put it on himself. ("The 23rd Psalm")
When Eko walked past the concrete wall where the electromagnetism appeared to originate from. The cross was attracted to it. ("Three Minutes")
The cross was eventually ripped from around Eko's neck in the System Failure. (2/23)
After the implosion of the Hatch, Eko was dragged to the polar bear cave. Locke found the cross while looking for Eko, on some foliage. ("Further Instructions")
Locke gave the cross back to Eko after discussing Yemi's corpse going missing, creating a bond between them. When Eko sees the vision of Yemi, he returns the cross to him, shortly before refusing to give confession. ("The Cost of Living")
Locke held it and apparently put it in Eko's grave along with his stick. ("I Do")
