DesPen is the fan-given name to the relationship between Desmond and Penelope. Such portmanteau nicknames for pairings are also more generally known as 'ships (short for "relationships").

• 2x24 "Live Together, Die Alone" - In flashbacks

Season 3

The origin of Desmond's picture and DesPen's downfall

• 3x08 "Flashes Before Your Eyes" - At the peek of their realtionship, Desmond decides to propose to Penelope which leads to their end. He first visits her father hoping to find approval. After understanding the nature of Desmond's visit, Charles is opposed and shows this by humiliating Desmond by making a simple comaparing the two of them with use of the MacCutcheon whisky. After the disapointment found in his conversation with Widmore, Desmond heads out to a jewellery/antique shop, in which he wants to buy Penny's engagement ring, but is opposed, yet again, this time by the furius Mrs. Hawking who esplains that Desmond's destiny is NOT to marry Penny and save the world. Not believeing her words, Desmond buys the ring and is determined to propose to Penelope. After taking their photograph, Desmond feels feels doubt, because of the fact that, in his marriage, Penny would probalby be their financial supporter, and ends their relationship after Penny pays for the photograph enstead og him.
• 3x17 "Catch-22" - After loading the wine on to Penelope's car, Desmond accepts her offer to hell trasport it. They talk and succesfully bond, leading to their long-time realtionship.
• 3x22 "Through the Looking Glass" -

Season 4

• 4x05 "The Constant" - In flashbacks Desmond visits Penny's flat, asking her number with an explanation that he'll her in 8 years on December 24th, 2004. Even though Penny shows clear signs of wanting a "clear break" with Des, he insists that she gives him the number. Finally, after a bit of reassuring, Penelope gives Desmond her number: 7946 0893. On the Kahana Sayid fixes the phone for Desmond, who dials Penny's number, exactly 8 yearsafter asking for it. Penny answers, and Des engages in a heartwarming phone call with Penelope, who is preparing for Christmas; she says she has been looking for him for three years, also confirming her previous conversation with the late Charlie. Just before the battery runs out they confess ther love for each other.
• 4x13 "There's No Place Like Home, Parts 2 & 3" - On-Island: Penny's boat The Searcher encounters the survivors boat and rescues them, after succesfully tracking the signal from Desmond's call.
