Background
Emilie de Ravin grew up in Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia. She took part in ballet beginning at age nine. At age fifteen, de Ravin was accepted at the highly selective Australian Ballet School in Melbourne. However, after only a year she dropped out and undertook acting courses in Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Art and America's Prime Time Actors Studio. Her first starring role was on the fantasy drama, "Beastmaster". When her agent told her of a role in the US, as newcomer Tess in the hit series "Roswell", she flew out and auditioned. After landing the role, she was written out of "Beastmaster" and started work as Tess, an alien. She relocated to California and was on "Roswell" before she even owned an apartment.
Emilie spends much of her time in Hawaii filming the hit show "Lost". Although this is time-consuming, she still finds time to pursue other acting projects concurrently. She starred in a recent remake of the classic horror film, The Hills Have Eyes (2006). She also recently played a murdered teenage drug addict in the high school film noir Brick.
Emilie de Ravin became engaged with her longtime boyfriend Josh Janowicz, on January 1, 2005 in Australia. On June 19, 2006, the two got married in her homeland. It was announced in January 2007 that Emilie and Josh had separated.[1] However, in the April 28th episode of "Opie and Anthony Show" on XM radio, she announced she was still happily married.
Emilie now lives in California with her pet dog, Bella.
