The waterfall that Kate, Sawyer, Nikki, and Paulo swam in is the Fountain of Youth.Nikki and Paulo are not dead they were washed away and got rescued.Locke said while Paulo was digging the hole to bury the diamonds, "Things on this island don't always stay buried." That is also why Richard does not appear to age.
Pros
- Would explain why Richard doesn't seem to age.
Cons
- Nikki and Paulo have been confirmed dead by the creators at Comic Con.
- It could be that if it is the Fountain of Youth than it may be that it prevents you from dying of natural causes.
