  • Gerald DeGroot is dead and his corpse is the Adam corpse found in the caves.
  • Gerald and Karen DeGroot went undercover on the Island as Horace Goodspeed and Olivia, with actors hired to play them in the Orientation Films to cover up their identities.
  • Considering the possible relevence of the (historical) Dutch philosopher Hugo de Groot, and the somewhat similar physical features of the pair, Gerald and Karen DeGroot may well be Hurley (Hugo) and Libby from a different timeline. This would offer a nice congruency between the DeGroots and Adam and Eve.
