Ben
- Ben will end up as the good guy. He was asking about Alex and if she wanted to see him, which she really did, but Pickett tied her up and took her away. Juliet said that Alex is fine and she said that Alex didn't ask for him, which gives the idea that she is the real bad "guy" in the ranks of the Others.

Him
When Juliet was at the construction site, she has the following conversation with Danny:
| “ |
Danny: I don't understand, it was supposed to be two weeks? | ” |
- This shows that the Others have a clear hierarchical order of command.
- As Danny appears to be in charge of construction, the "two weeks" is a reference to an event that involves the construction site.
- They moved the schedule up because they thought Jack would not operate and Ben would be dead before "two weeks". Moving the schedule up would allow Ben to partake in whatever it is they are doing.
- Ben originally told Kate the next two weeks would be unpleasant. He thought he had two weeks to convince Jack to do the surgery but since Ben needed to be in surgery "yesterday," the schedule changed.

Eko's stick
- The inscription only includes the direction North (while the actual bible passage includes "north and south, east and west") and the juxtaposition of the reference to the book of John just below the passage, makes the entire passage appear to be "LIFT UP YOUR EYES AND LOOK NORTH JOHN". This would certainly add to the impression that this was a direct message intended for John.

Kate and Sawyer have sex
Kate escapes her cage, breaks into Sawyer's cage, and the two have sex. Jack sees the two of them on a monitor.
- Since the alarms did not sound when Kate broke the lock to Sawyer's cage, the Others wanted the two of them in the same place at the same time. They were watching the situation, to assess whether they should sound the alarm if either prisoner actually tried to run.
- The Others could have easily stopped Kate and Sawyer, but they purposely planned for Jack to see them. They wanted to fire up Jack to the point of not caring about anyone else on the Island, and just wanting to do the surgery and leaving the Island behind.
- The Others are well aware of the love triangle and were using it to their advantage, specifically, to save Ben's life.
- The Others are also using Kate and Sawyer as their guinea pigs. They put the two of them into a situation that was going to get them close to each other so that they would eventually have sex. That way, Kate could've been impregnated and they would have someone to study on, someone they don't really care whether she's gonna die or not.
Miscellaneous Kate theories
- When Kate brings in the drugged drink to Kevin and he is working on his computer, he says he's working on the fugitive from Tampa. Sawyer is the fugitive (Tampa Job).
- In season 2, Sun asks Kate whether she has ever taken a pregnancy test. Kate says "yes" with a faraway look in her eye. Most likely Kate was referring to the pregnancy test she took in this episode.

Miscellaneous Theories
- The gun Jack grabbed from the gun locker was a Luger, used prominently by the Germans during World War II. This could be explained because the Hanso Foundation is based in Denmark, which neighbors Germany. It also supports the theory that the Island has been occupied since before the Second World War, since Lugers began to be replaced as early as 1938, although Lugers are considered a collector's item.
