Cleanup
The article is marked as official policy, but also as being under construction. Shouldn't it be included in Category:Policies in process for review?--TechNic|talk|conts 20:55, 8 March 2008 (PST)
- Can this page be unprotected so that users can help clean it up? For example, the section on moving pages is obselete. Clearer guidlines on archiving would be useful. There's other stuff too, I'm sure.--TechNic|talk|conts 21:13, 9 March 2008 (PDT)
- By all means have a go! Plkrtn talk contribs email 02:11, 10 March 2008 (PDT)
I've had a pop at it now. I think it helps a little, but the article still feels rather disjointed. I think it needs more work to make it actually useful. Any other takers?--TechNic|talk|conts 08:09, 10 March 2008 (PDT)
I agree this article needs to be cleaned up. The policy is too vague in some areas.CastorPollux 11:01, 10 March 2008 (PDT)
Policy?
I reckon this page is ready now. Can a sysop or two take a look, adjust as necessary and replace the LP policy header please?--TechNic|talk|conts 05:56, 24 March 2008 (PDT)
- I think it looks pretty good. -- Graft talk contributions 18:39, 24 March 2008 (PDT)
- I think we should implement it as an official policy. -- c blacxthornE t 06:38, 16 April 2008 (PDT)
User talk pages
Hi all, I'd like to suggest that the following be added to the bulleted list in the "Deleting talk history" section:
- Users may revert edits to their personal talk pages that are racist, sexist, homophobic, profane, or contain similarly inappropriate language.
- Where administrators take action against a user for inappropriate behaviour, the administrator may redact inappropriate or insulting language on article talk pages.--Hylas 10:13, 5 April 2008 (PDT)
- I strongly agree with this. I was the one who noticed and reported the comment on Hylas' talk page, but it wasn't my place to remove it. I feel this suggestion is corollary to NPA. Hasn't precedence has been established by removal of similar content placed on the wiki by users who are now banned? -- LOSTonthisdarnisland 01:08, 9 April 2008 (PDT)
Redacting your own comments
This policy in the works states, "Do not delete comments, even if you made them and changed your mind." I think that the policy suggestion here is too black and white. I suggest: "Do not delete the comments of others. If you have made a comment in error, and no one else has responded to your comment, you may delete your own comment." ---- LOSTonthisdarnisland 21:37, 7 April 2008 (PDT)
- I think that when it comes to policy, black and white is generally a good thing. To allow the option in certain circumstances but not in others just muddies the waters. We allow people to retract their comments by striking them through so there is already a workable solution.--TechNic|talk|conts 01:31, 8 April 2008 (PDT)
- Generally, I'd agree, but I thought it might be too stringent. I could be wrong :) -- LOSTonthisdarnisland 08:10, 8 April 2008 (PDT)
