Mittelos Laboratories was the "chemistry and new technologies" research company that Richard Alpert used as a front to draw John Locke to the Island in the 1970s. Alpert spoke on the phone with 16-year-old Locke's science teacher, Gellert, at Cowin Heights High School and sent the teacher a brochure advertising the company's youth science camp. Locke rejected his invitation to the camp, asserting that he did not want to become a scientist, and complaining that his interests in science were the cause of his being targeted by school bullies. ("Cabin Fever")

Like Mittelos Bioscience, the front company Alpert used to recruit Juliet Burke to the Island, Mittelos Labs was said to have been based in Portland, Oregon. It is likely the two are the same company, but simply changed their name between the 1970s and 2001.
