Theories may be removed if ...
  1. Stated as questions or possibilities (avoid question marks, "Maybe", "I think", etc).
  2. More appropriate for another article.
  3. Illogical or previously disproven.
  4. Proven by canon source, and moved to main article.
  5. Speculative and lacking any evidence to support arguments.
  6. Responding to another theory (use discussion page instead).
  • This does not include responses that can stand alone as its own theory.
  • Usage of an indented bullet does not imply the statement is a response.

See the Lostpedia theory policy for more details.

  • He is the same character as the Priest, also played by actor Glenn Cannon, in an earlier episode, "The Moth".
  • He is not intended to be the same character as the Priest. The cap worn by the scooter character has a gambling theme, and does not suit a priest. Actors are often "reused" for bit-parts like this.
  • He is the priest's bad twin.
  • He is a good person so Jacob made him miss his flight by making Hurley late, thus he'd buy his scooter.
  • When/if Hurley gets off The Island Old Scooter Man, who turns out to be incredibly rich and famous, will pay Hurley for delaying him getting on Flight 815.
  • He is Jacob.
    • Jacob knew the plane was going to crash so he spied on the survivors prior to boarding the flight. As he was about to get back on, Hurley bought his scooter off him and left him in Sydney.
      • Jacob couldn't walk on the outside world, he could only walk on The Island due to its healing powers. When Hurley bought his scooter, he was stuck on the outside world.
  • He is Sam Toomey.
    • He didn't kill himself, only faked his death because he thought the curse would leave him if everyone thought he was dead. He met Hurley because Lenny told him he used the numbers and came to warn him. But before he could, Hurley bought the scooter and took off.
