Theories may be removed if ...
  1. Stated as questions or possibilities (avoid question marks, "Maybe", "I think", etc).
  2. More appropriate for another article.
  3. Illogical or previously disproven.
  4. Proven by canon source, and moved to main article.
  5. Speculative and lacking any evidence to support arguments.
  6. Responding to another theory (use discussion page instead).
  • This does not include responses that can stand alone as its own theory.
  • Usage of an indented bullet does not imply the statement is a response.

See the Lostpedia theory policy for more details.

Actions

  • The glass eye in the Arrow was his, or at least placed there by him along with the section of the Swan Orientation Film.
    • If the eye was his, this may support the idea that Radzinsky was Mikhail; see #Identity theories, below.
  • He edited the Swan Orientation Film as "insurance" in case he was killed or replaced before his plan came to fruition. He wanted his and Kelvin's replacements to stop pushing the button, thereby triggering a system failure that would give away the location of the Island.
    • He removed all information about the nature of the Incident and the consequences of a system failure because he wanted the viewer to suspect that all the information in the film is meaningless and that nothing will happen if the button is not pushed.
    • He left the reference to B.F. Skinner in the film because he wanted the viewer to conclude that the Swan Station is nothing but a giant Skinner box.
    • He removed Dr. Marvin Candle's warning about contacting the outside world because he wanted the viewer to attempt such a contact. (Perhaps this implies that the world can, in fact, be contacted via the DHARMA computer system.)
    • He smuggled the deleted footage out in the hollowed-out Bible for the same reason that he and Kelvin hid the map on the blast door - because he didn't want the people running the experiment to know what he was up to.
  • As both Kelvin and Desmond were once in the military, Radzinsky, the only other known occupant of the Swan, was also in the military.
  • Radzinsky was a Hostile who infiltrated the Swan, edited out the information about the incident, which was the Purge, and then killed himself so that no one would know their secrets.
  • Radzinsky assisted the Others with their first incidents, and conspired with them to "save" infant Alex from her insane mother Danielle in 1988; he kept her in the Swan until Dharma brought in Inman in 1991 or early '92, when he then gave her back to the Others pre-Purge. In return, they were spared in the Purge as long as they kept the Swan functional. Inman may never have been informed of the details. Radzinsky either died or killed himself before he could tell Inman the truth.

Identity

  • Radzinsky's first name is Brandon, he is one of the crew-members of the freighter. He came to close to the island and traveled in time. He went insane and killed himself in the station and on the boat simoultaneously by a shot in the head! Desmond has seen both the blood in the freighter-room and in the swan-station. To hide the fact that he might be a time-traveller he editet the orientation-movie where it speaks about accidents.
  • Radzinsky isn't anyone we've met thus far. He's an unseen character who will be introduced in one of Ben's flashbacks.
  • Radzinsky is Jacob. (See Jacob/Theories.)
    • Jacob is associated with Biblical imagery, as in "God loves you as he loved Jacob". In the same way, Radzinsky seems to have possibly been a Christian (unlike the other, more Buddhism-oriented DHARMA employees), since he chose to hide the edited film within a Bible.
      • The idea that Jacob was somehow involved with the DHARMA Initiative is supported by the orientation film for the Orchid.
    • If Jacob is a ghost of some sort (perhaps created by the unique properties of the Swan), he could be Radzinsky without needing any explanation for how Radzinsky would survive shooting himself in the head.
  • Radzinsky is Mikhail. (See Mikhail Bakunin/Theories.)
    • Radzinsky is a typical Slavic name, and Mikhail is Russian.
    • Mikhail has survived apparent death many times: he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage, was shot through the chest with a spear-gun, and his fate is unknown after being blown up with a grenade. It is not a huge stretch that he could survive a bullet in the same way.
    • If Radzinsky has been in the Arrow, in order to place the "edited" film there, this supports the idea that he could be Mikhail: a glass eye was also found there, and Mikhail is the only one-eyed character thus far.
    • Alternatively, Mikhail could have lost his eye as a result of shooting himself.
    • At the Flame, Mikhail possesses alcohol imprinted with the logo of the Swan, suggesting a connection.
  • At the capsule dump, Kate reads a notebook which refers to an inhabitant of The Swan with the initials "S.R.". The surname R could stand for "Radzinsky", making Radzinsky's first name begin with "S".
  • Radzinsky could be Sam Toomey.
    • Sam Toomey killed himself with a shotgun just like Radzinsky.
    • Before he married Martha, who is interviewed by Hurley regarding the numbers and their power, Sam Toomey's surname was Radzinsky: "Sam Radzinsky" matches "S.R."
      • That is a bit illogical - how ould Martha know he'd shot himself if he was on the Island. Why would he change his name when he married someone? The time frame is also off
  • Radzinsky is David Radzinsky, Libby's late husband. They both worked for Dharma. He either killed himself or was killed by Kelvin. Libby, working for Dharma, gives David's boat to Desmond and he ends up on the Island. She then goes undercover at Santa Rosa to watch Hurley, which explains why he recognizes her. She, having knowledge of the numbers and Hurley, books the same flight as he, in hopes of finding out what has happened to Dharma and more importantly, her husband, David Radzinsky.
  • Radzinsky is Marvin Candle

Death

  • He was murdered by Kelvin.
    • Kelvin shot Radzinsky in the head when Radzinsky told Kelvin that he wanted to leave, much like Desmond later kills Kelvin when he finds out that he wants to leave. In both cases, the cause of death is a head wound.
      • From Kelvin's description of him, Radzinsky didn't sound like someone who would commit suicide. Kelvin also didn't want to talk about his death - he may have killed him and been feeling guilty about it.
    • Considering where the blood stain is, it's almost impossible that Radzinsky was murdered.
  • The skeleton in the polar bear cave was Radzinsky.
    • This is supported by the fact that the top part of the skull is missing, note that shotguns are extremely powerful.
    • When Desmond asked Kelvin where he buried Radzinsky, he said he only had 108 minutes to do it. But what if he didn't bury him but rather just threw him in the Dharma Mass Grave?
      • It would surely take more than 108 minutes to carry a body to the mass grave.
    • His body could have been dug up by one of the bears, or even a Boar.
    • Although it has a Pearl logo on the shirt, this could just mean that Radzinsky was originally an operative at the Pearl station who was forced to move to the Swan when he saw something (e.g., the former button-pushers dying) on the Pearl's monitors.
  • There is nothing unusual about Radsinsky's death, and everything Kelvin was true
  • Radzinsky knew he was not going to leave the island and he had a replacement (Kelvin) by now. He had no regrets for dying after he taught Kelvin his secrets.
    • "By Now" ? They were partners stationned at the same time in The Swan.
  • He died when he was trying to pass the Barrack's Security perimeter/Sonic Barrier/security barrier.
    • This leaves the stain on the ceiling unexplained.
  • Radzinsky could have been a close friend of Kelvin's and did commit suicide which affected Kelvin which could've made him not want to talk about his death as Radzinsky was a close friend of his.
    • Inman was an officer in the Gulf War. He made Sayid torture his commanding officer because the latter would not cooperate while Sayid translated a language that Inman was fluent in. Pardon me to be doubtful about his compassion.
  • After a long time without replacements (due to the purge) Radzinsky began to explore the island, creating the blast door map while Kelvin pushed the button. After much exploration he realized the rest of Dharma were gone. Feeling like he'd been left behind with no replacements coming he became depressed and shot himself.
    • He may also have discovered the video in The Pearl, lowering his morale further.
      • The he wouldn't mark it as a "?" on his map.
        • He made the question mark on the ground above the station
  • Radzinsky was infected with the sickness.
  • Radzinksy shot himself while traveling back and forth in time from the past to the present because he could not handle the pain.
  • Kelvin killed him, because Radzinsky was trying to leave the island, using the boat Rousseau and her team arrived on. Just like the reason Desmond killed Kelvin.
    • Desmond killing Kelvin was an accident.
