"Sabrina" redirects here. For other uses of "Sabrina", see Sabrina (disambiguation).

Sabrina Carlyle is the mother of Boone, and the stepmother of Shannon. She cut Shannon off from the family fortune after the death of her husband Adam Rutherford, who died with a living trust rather than a will. She is also the owner of a wedding business, a subsidiary of which resulted in Boone moving away from New York to become the COO of her company.

Before the crash[]

In 1981, Sabrina gave birth to a son named Boone. ("The Greater Good") A decade later, she married a man named Adam Rutherford. Through this marriage, she gained an 8-year-old stepdaughter named Shannon. ("Hearts and Minds")

In late 2001, her husband was killed in a car accident after colliding with an SUV driven by a woman named Sarah. ("Man of Science, Man of Faith")  ("Abandoned") She allegedly cut off the inheritance of her then-18-year-old stepdaughter Shannon.

Sabrina and Shannon After Funeral

Sabrina struggles to comfort her stepdaughter. (promotional still)

This information was regurgitated by her Australian boyfriend, Bryan to her son after she conned him into coming to Australia for her and paying off Bryan to leave Shannon alone. ("Hearts and Minds")  ("Abandoned")

According to Sabrina's account, her husband simply left no will. She acted nonchalant when Shannon questioned this. Sabrina surmized that Adam wanted her to find her own way.

She denied Shannon's request for money when she tried to pursue a prestigious internship in New York. She justified this by saying Shannon said the year before that she would pursue interior design and she never did. ("Abandoned")

Oceanic Six rescue[]

In December of 2004, mass news coverage documented that Flight 815's wreckage and all 324 bodies were found in the bottom of the ocean, confirming both her son and stepdaughter were dead. ("Confirmed Dead")  ("Meet Kevin Johnson")

However, six survivors were discovered and gave a story to the press that her son Boone was one of the initial 8 survivors; they claimed he swam out before the plane sank in the bottom of the ocean. One week later, he died of internal injuries on an uninhabited island in the Lesser Sunda Islands. ("Eggtown")  ("There's No Place Like Home, Part 1")

It is not known how Sabrina reacted to this information or the media cover-up.

Deleted scene[]

In a deleted flashback scene, Sabrina showed little care for Shannon's grief and asked her when she would be leaving her house.
