Opening credits show Andrew Divoff in The Cost of Living.

Wow. I've watched Enter 77, plus Par Avion twice, and I never ever recognized him! Only just now when I saw the credit here did I realize it's the Wishmaster actor. Now it seems obvious, though. Either they did a bang-up job with the make-up, or he has aged rather fast...

Where is the source that this guy plays Eyepatch man? Over on the Eyepatch man page, they have "unknown" listed as the actor, since no one can verify this Divoff guy. --Ghtx 14:35, 3 November 2006 (PST)

The man is still credited for the episode. --SilvaStorm

Please cite the source for the credit do not just remove delete banner.--scocub

Dunno, if he's actually credited, like SilvaStorm says, that seems good enough. There is a resemblance with Eyepatch man, can't see what other character he could be playing. Wait, I guess I'm starting to be a bit confused with what you've all been saying here. Are you only doubting he plays that particular character or are you saying that Divoff's name actually is not in the episode credits ? -- Cheers 10:08, 5 November 2006 (PST)

I can not find Divoff's name in the credits at all. He is not listed in the press release for this episode. --scocub

  • OK, so I went back and watched the opening to "The Cost of Living" and I do see his name credit in the scene where Ben talks to Jack right before Colleen's funeral. Now I know that reoccuring characters are sometimes listed in the credits of episodes they do not appear in, like Michelle Rodriguez in season 2. I still think we should wait until we can confirm that Divoff does play the eyepatch man. I don't see what the problem is with waiting. Lostpedia is not a "breaking news site", it is supposed to be the "Lost" encyclopedia or at least that was my understanding. --scocub
Then if it's confirmed he's credited, it's in the episode itself, which is the primary source if there is one. What additional confirmation is necessary? Should we delete half the character pages of the encyclopeadia until J.J. Abrams personnally comes knocking at our door and recites the list of every actor and character? I doubt they would have credited Divoff before his first episode. What we have here is an actor whose name is listed in the credits, and we have a character who just happens to looks like the identical twin of that actor, plus an eyepatch. If we're as smart as the average Dharma bear, we can conclude that if Eyepatch man looks like Divoff and walks like Divoff, then it's likely that Divoff is playing Eyepatch man in the episode, more than him playing the role of the monster or of a coconut tree. -- Cheers 17:36, 5 November 2006 (PST)
Kiele Sanchez and Rodrigo Santoro were both credited in the first two episodes of Season 3, yet did not appear in them. A credit at the start of the show is not proof that they are in the episode, it just means they are in the series in some way. I don't think we should delete this, but then again I don't think we should acredit him with a role we don't yet know he is playing. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  06:57, 6 November 2006 (PST)
  • It would have been nice of Damon and Carlton to verify this during the last podcast instead of telling us that stupid story about George Lucas :D --MightyRearranger 18:18, 5 November 2006 (PST)

I was conceding to my mistake in my previous post. I did miss his name in the credits and he was not listed in the press release for the episode. I apologize for my error. My suggestion to wait was regarding waiting until he is confirmed as the eyepatch man before listing he is indeed portraying this character. --scocub

Delete- I have found no source that verifies Andrew Divoff is the eyepatch man. If a credible source is cited, ABC medianet for example, I then would have no problem with keeping it but through my research I can not find his credit for this character anywhere. I do not believe the image is clear enough to determine the actor just by sight. --scocub --Delete--, although I don't think anybody would simply pull his name out of thin air like that. Provide some evidence and we'll go from there. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mighty Rearranger (talkcontribs) 14:01 UT, 5 November 2006.
Keep: I think one objective is to have a page for every credited actor. If there's a factual mistake in the page, it can be corrected without deleting the page. However, if it's not true that he is credited and plays in this episode, then I'd agree with the deletion. -- Cheers 10:09, 5 November 2006 (PST)

Keep: We know he is in the show, as he is credited on the opening credits. We don't know who it is. So as fans think thats who is playing him, we should keep a reference to that belief, but not credit him until we know for sure. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  07:06, 6 November 2006 (PST)

  • I think he may have been listed because I can see a resemblance and he also has an Abrams connection from his work on Alias but we should wait until ABC or an offical podcast verifies this casting.--scocub
  • Hi guys, it appears User talk:MrGrsmnky added in this credit, so I just left a msg on his talk page to see if he can verify it. Maybe just wait a little while to see if he can respond with a source first, and then we could delete it; right now, this page isn't linked to anything. --PandoraX 06:33, 5 November 2006 (PST)
  • Fair enough. I guess I should have done that from the beginning.--scocub
  • I'll give him a day or two the respond, and then delete this (he just sounded so sure when he changed it, heh, and it does look like him). I changed the content to "believed to play" so it isn't as definite, in the meantime. --PandoraX 06:53, 6 November 2006 (PST)

Keep: See the screenshot I added at the top of the page. Andrew Divoff is credited in the opening. ABC Medianet does not always list every guest actor, especially if the character is not officially named. --   Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 10:55, 6 November 2006 (PST)

Thanks for clearing that up, Jabr, especially with the cap! Relinking... --PandoraX 12:50, 6 November 2006 (PST)
  • Change to Keep: Thank you for the verification. I hate it when I don't tape the really controversial stuff on my VCR...--MightyRearranger 12:54, 6 November 2006 (PST)

Why didn't they cast a guy who really speaks Russian?

Divoff's accent is terrible. How hard is it to find someone who really speaks the langueage? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Iamme (talkcontribs) .

Because Divoff is a cool actor. --Blueeagleislander 00:49, 8 March 2007 (PST)
They did cast someone who speaks the language. There're 140M people living in Russia across a huge span of land. Surely you're not suggesting there's a proper Russian accent. --Bastion 11:42, 26 April 2007 (PDT)
Also, Divoff's father is Russian, so it's possible that he based Mikhail's accent on his father's, or his ex-wife's, who is Russian as well.--Invertebrat 22:13, 14 May 2007 (PDT)
He isn't Russian, he's Ukrainian --Hexhunter 12:12, 28 February 2008 (PST)
According to who? Searching online, various sources say his dad is Russian and he DOES speak russian (supposedly speaks nine languages). --Minderbinder 12:17, 28 February 2008 (PST)
