Talk:Cerberus
From Lostpedia
In Greek myth Orpheus and Hercules were the only ones to get past Cerberus but in Roman myth Aeneas and Psyche both got past the beast by giving it a drugged cake.--Tricksterson 07:30, 5 April 2006 (PDT)
Psyche getting past 'Cerberus' makes for an amusing point if Cerberus does turn out to be the security system (reads people's minds, mind=psyche) --Draic 03:39, 27 April 2006 (PDT)
Perhaps the latin translation should read: 'there be dragons here'. This terminology was often used on maps to denote unexplored areas, and unknown dangers. --Apoc06 08:05, 25 May 2006 (PDT)
Any relation to the X-Men's CEREBRO computer? It boosted psychic powers? --Techiedavid 10:13, 2 June 2006 (PDT)
No. CEREBRO is derived from either Cerebrum or cerebellum, which are parts of the brain or perhaps "cerebral" which means intelligent or pertaining to deep thought.--Tricksterson 07:21, 3 June 2006 (PDT)
Thats cerebro, its spelt differently to cerberus, there's no letter 'e' between the 'r' and the 'b'. No link at all to our BSM --Hotgirl 11:48, 28 July 2007 (PDT)
Merge
- I didn't nominate this, but I definitely vote No Merge. There's no proof that the Monster is Cerberus. We cannot make that assumption yet. Sure, in "Left Behind", it lent weight to the theory, but definitely didn't prove it. -- Lost Soul talk contribs 09:20, 10 April 2007 (PDT)
- No Merge and even if we find out that the monster is called Cerberus by the Dharma group, this Cerberus artical is mainly Greco-Roman Mythology and probly should be left this way, as a background to its name, While the monster page should be used for the monster on the show --Hit and miss 09:27, 10 April 2007 (PDT)
- No Merge - Nothing canon to indicate the monster is a cerberus, even if the blast door map suggests it. Jabberwock talk contribs email - 09:55, 10 April 2007 (PDT)
- Don't Merge, per reasons already stated. No definitive proof means that we cannot yet merge the two. -PsychoYoshi 09:54, 10 April 2007 (PDT)
- Don't Merge until there is proof.--TechNic|talk|conts 10:03, 10 April 2007 (PDT)
No merging - I'm pretty much on 90% sure it is the real name of the Monster, but no direct answer yet so can't be merged... yet... --Nickb123 (Talk) 10:11, 10 April 2007 (PDT)
- Not yet Wait until proof. But merge after a cannon source gives a definitive link between them. Also, even though they are probably closely related, they may still be distinct in some way, for example, Cerberus could be the name of a facility that sustains the monster but has other functions besides the monster. (Calling the monster cerberus in this case would be like calling the button "the Swan") --Jackdavinci 16:00, 10 April 2007 (PDT)
- Not yet As there is no proof, moving the discussion to this page would open up risk of huge waste if it is proved not to be cerberus in future.
New merge round based on Comic Con information
See Talk:The Monster, to save double arguments --Nickb123 (Talk) 11:56, 28 July 2007 (PDT)
- Yes Merge Based on the evidence from 7-26-07: Comic Con San Diego when Damon says..."On the blast door map drawn by Radzinsky, C.V. stood for Cerberus Vents. That's Dharma's name for it, maybe. Cerberus is one of it's names." I think we have the proof we needed now --Hotgirl 11:48, 28 July 2007 (PDT)
Spam
Do we care if some band has Cerberus on their album cover? Seems like a spam link.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Riddley (talk • contribs) .
