Talk:Lost Continent (theory)
From Lostpedia
I think these theories would be quite entertaining read if somebody put up some more "evidence" supporting for example Atlantis. I'm not a believer in these lost continent theories, but I hope some zealot comes by this article and starts doing some heavyduty "research" ;-) To put some gasoline on the fire, one of the possible locations of Atlantis is Antartica (aka The South Pole)[1] and South America is a popular theory [2]. Anyway, I leave it to all you crazy Lost fans/conspiracy buffs to fill in the blanks here. Should be a nice summer reading if somebody came up with The Ultimate Atlantis Theory :-D --Jambalaya 10:58, 28 May 2006 (PDT)
How about merging all of the Atlantis, Mu, Lemuria posts into this one article with the other three all redirecting here? --ActiveValue 13:39, 28 May 2006 (PDT)

DHARMA
We know that DHARMA is an acronym. If we assume that the Losties landed on Atlantis, are there any theories as to what DHARMA might stand for? —XSG 12:03, 31 May 2006 (PDT)
- I updated the page including some personal but reasonable theories that support the Atlantis theory. Andrea
Atlantic Atlantis
See, the ancient Greeks didn't know about America but did know the world was spherical not flat. So to them, the Atlantic and the Pacific would have been the same ocean. There's no reason why Atlantis has to be in what we today call the Atlantic. Tibbalt 16:03, 31 May 2006 (PDT)
Cool Theory, I wouldn't put money on it but if it was real. Wow!
- Yeah but Plato indicated that Atlantis was located "beyond the Pillars of Heracles" which definitely places it in the Atlantic Ocean. Furthermore, according to Plato, the Atlantis civilisation had contacts mostly with Europe and North/West Africa. If the continent was located in South Pacific they would have at first had contacts with South Africa or South Asia but there are no references to Atlantis in these civilisation.
In conclusion, I think Lost voluntarily parallel Atlantis (along with other myths, the Bermuda Triangle for example) but the Island is not Atlantis.--Oliverdevor 04:39, 23 July 2007 (PDT)
- We now know that the island can move! This make it possible that in the past it was actually loacted in the Atlantic Ocean, and the writers placed it in the pacific only to keep us off that theory.
DHARMA Or D-H-A-R-M-A. Thinking of the monster or the Defense System the first word comes to mind is Defensive. And the last could be Atlantis. Ryanmcgoldrick 09:36, 7 June 2006 (PDT)
How about adding an extra point in the Lemuria section:
- The island was reported to contain reptilian beings (dragons or nagas), this relates to the writings on the Blast Door Map [3] whereon it states in Latin "There are Dragons here."

THE Monster
The main reason I'm on board with the Atlantis theory (besides the obvious stuff, lost island, etc), is the Monster. In some Atlantis theories, the lost colony is protected by a monster called Leviathan. Rousseau referred to the Monster as a security device, which is the same function that the mythical Leviathan provided. That would imply, then, that there is a whole lot more of the island that is yet to be discovered, if the Monster is protecting it. --Idratherbesailing 18:13, 22 August 2006 (PDT)
