Pure Speculation
OK, let's assume that Thomas is roughly 30 years old (this may not be true, but that's about where I placed him when I watched the episode). The initial confrontation was between 2000 and 2004 (probably closer to the latter), thus Thomas would have been in his late teens or early twenties back in the late '80s and early '90s. Since we have never heard a specific age nor a first name, there's a possibility that Thomas is Radzinski. This would, of course, mean that Kelvin lied about his death, but maybe the stain was from paint. Radzinski had pretty much gone insane and was painting on his shift when a system failure occured. Radzinski's metallic paint can went flying, spattering paint onto the ceiling and leaving the brownish stain. Perhaps this led to Radzinski being kicked out by Kelvin, captured by The Others, and returned safely to his home. Rachel, a Hanso employee/scout, was planning on Claire's trip to the island and saw that a relationship with Thomas may intervene. Therefore, she paid off Malkin and scared Thomas away, allowing Claire to get on the destined flight. Kelvin, still isolated in the hatch, made up a story about Tom Radzinski blowing his brains out in order to conceal the truth about the system failure's magnetic results.
I just thought that this page needed some good discussion.--Mighty Rearranger 14:45, 28 August 2006 (PDT)
Sources for the relationship with Karen Pace
Are there any? It is a good idea to mention Thomas in Karen's, Megan's and Liam's articles. Assuming, of course, that the relationship has known sources. Luis Dantas 12:40, 27 September 2006 (PDT)
Painting in Widmore's office
- Do we actually know that the painting in Charles Widmore's office was painted by Thomas? We know it looks like one of his but has their been confirmation that it really was one of his?
Thomas' Uncle Dies of Brain Tumor as does Sawyer's Uncle
Did anyone else catch that Thomas (Claire's boyfriend) mentions his uncle had a brain tumor and Claire confirms he dies of it in the episode "Raised By Another" (Season 1 Episode 10).
Later in the episode "Deus ex Machina" (Season 1 Episode 19) Sawyer also mentions that his uncle had a brain tumor.
I wonder if this will be any kind of connection because after the baby was born it was Sawyers voice alone that could soothe the crying baby.
Thoughts?
- Thomas' uncle didn't have a Brain Tumor, he had testicular cancer. Transcript:
THOMAS: Okay, first of all these tests are not always accurate.
CLAIRE: Thomas.
THOMAS: No, no, no, my uncle he thought he had testicular cancer, remember that.
CLAIRE: He did. He's dead.
Was a good idea though. :)--Baker1000 16:38, 24 January 2008 (PST)
Possible connection to Ben?
OK, I might be the only one who thinks this is possible... and I know it's kind of out of left feild. But doesn't Thomas look a little bit like Ben? Could they be related? It's already been shown that Ben can leave the island whenever he likes -- who's to say he never had a relationship when he was off the island? Maybe Thomas is his son. That might explain things like why Aaron is "special" and why the Others want to ensure Aaron is taken care of. Just a thought :) --4Toes 14:16, 13 May 2008 (PDT)
- I agree: if we assume that Ben can see the future, and know the outcome of events (even following "rules", or not, as in "The Shape of Things to Come") AND consider that Ben and his dad Rodger seem nearly the same age ("The Man Behind the Curtain") then could young Ben finished his schooling on the island and was able to travel the world IN TIME for 30 years or so (making him chronologically the same age as his father), learning philosophy, martial arts and languages ("The Shape of Things to Come") and modernist painting ("Raised by Another")in all that time? And in the latter, traveled in time to meet Claire and father Aaron in secret, as perhaps this may be against the "rules."--meaning Thomas IS Ben, proofed more by Ben's interest in Claire's pregnancy, requiring a fertility Dr. to be brought to the island to look after Ben's little secret. If this is the case, then the island is looking more like a family affair...with Ben being Christian's lost son-in-law???...--Talkster 04:43, 15 May 2008 (PDT)Talkster
- Regarding the above, can we also assume that young Ben needed glasses, and the as yet "officially" un-seen 20-something Ben traveled to Sydney for laser eye correction surgery (like "lasik") and the current on-island Ben seems to use reading glasses only. Wouldn't this assumption possibly put a young 20 something Ben in the proximity of Claire?? Again--Talkster 04:55, 15 May 2008 (PDT)Talkster
- Wow, you make an interesting point, Talkster - maybe Ben and Thomas are the same person? I hadn't thought about it like that. I think that might make things uber-complicated though... but then again, what isn't when it comes to the island? :) However, if this is all correct, this might explain why the island didn't actually choose Thomas and chose Aaron instead..... BUT then you have to ask, If this "Chosen" thing is about lineage, who is Locke related to? And then, who is Ben related to? Are Ben and Locke related? Where did the line begin? Interesting. --4Toes 09:54, 15 May 2008 (PDT)
Thomas Widmore?
Ok I was thinking is it possible that Thomas is Widmore's son thus making Aaron his grandson? We don't know Thomas's last name. Widmore has one of his paintings in his office. Widmore speaks with more of an Australian accent while his daughter Penelope seems to have a British accent. Aaron being Charles's grandson and being born on the island would make him very important. The psychic warned Claire that no one else should raise him. Who on the show would the characters (and the island) most want to protect Aaron from? Charles Widmore. --Meteor
