Template talk:Nav-Theories

From Lostpedia

Jump to: navigation, search

Contents

Style

Theories are listed alphabetically (ignoring the, etc.). This is to be democratic. If you add a new theory page of significant content, of course add it to this template as well.

Categories

The categories are defined thuswise:

Ontological: Theories requiring an existence drastically different from that known currently on this Earth.

Psychological: Theories suggesting that much of what is observed upon the Island and/or in flashback is not inherently true to its appearance. This takes precedence over ontological differences.

Realist: Theories that maintain that most or all of what is observed on the Island and in flashbacks is true, but that significant details are as-of-yet unrevealed.

Literary: Theories that maintain that major influences to the show are dictated by literary devices, as directly intended by the show's creators. These theories may also fall into one of the other categories, but are fundamentally defined by this characteristic.

Parody: Theories that are inherently humourous.

Miscellaneous: Theories that are not general (don't deal with the overall exposition of the show) or deny ready categorization belong here.

Very well categorised might I say. When looking at other theory sites etc, none really have this approach of managing them into different schools of thought --Nickb123 (Talk) 10:04, 1 August 2006 (PDT)

+parody

an addition of a parody section to the navbar would be nice - the ol accommodate for stupidest user philosophy. i mean we don't want anyone believing it's all in a lovely box. do we? --kaini. 20:55, 27 July 2006 (PDT)

Did so. --Scottkj 11:16, 28 July 2006 (PDT)
Permission to add the Crossover TV Show theory?
Amazingly, the parody section has grown more than 100% since I created this template, but only a handful of serious new theories have been added. Ironical? --Scottkj 18:12, 2 September 2006 (PDT)

Theory Add Requests

Could you add Time paradox (Theory) under Ontological? It's a theory about a Time Paradox that intends to deal with all the predestination aspects of the story; you are not meant to leave, you have to return, you are not supposed to raise him, etc... some characters seem to have a link with the Island which is the origin of the paradox and, eventually, when all reunited under the precise circumstances, will be the end of the paradox.

Could you add Fan theories/widmore vs. the others/natives under Realist? It's a theory that is gaining momentum due to the recent events of Season 4. Thanks -CSzPonce

Could you add The Fall of DHARMA (theory) to the list, its a fully-fledged theory which many believe.

A very minor theory is that the energy created by the electromagnet is sent to the radio tower that Rousou's message is being sent from and that They control now. They have to wait every 104 minutes to push the button so that a steady but not constant flow of energy can generate the tower.

Could you add:Reality Show (parody theory) --Fratom

Please add the Vile Vortices (theory) --Kivipat

Anyone want to add LOST is a TV program (parody theory)? (Isolation815 20:29, 15 April 2007 (PDT))

Please add the Black hole (theory) and the Dharma (theory) so that they will come off the orphaned pages list. I have no attachment to these pages and some can probably be marked for deletion, I'm just on an Orphaned pages quest. Wikistoriographer 08:49, 13 February 2008 (PST)

Please also add the Time Capsule Theory and Spiritual Evolution (theory)for the same reasons as above Wikistoriographer 11:26, 20 February 2008 (PST)

I've added those four. However, I put a merge nom on Dharma to be merged with Spiritual Evolution, as they are pretty much the same thing. Also, I wasn't exactly sure how they should be categorized, so if anyone has any re-categorization requests, just let me know. -- Graft   talk   contributions  13:32, 21 February 2008 (PST)

Thanks Graft. Can you also add the Viewer Experiment Theory. It may need to be marked merged or for deletion, but for now its an ophan. Wikistoriographer 08:57, 25 February 2008 (PST)

Removal

Coconuts of Mass Destruction should be removed , it's a red link :| Cool Man 0912 11:54, 23 September 2006 (PDT)

...should be removed: it's another red link.--LOCI!

Fix of theories

  • Could a SysOp fix Purgatory and Nanotechnology so they point to Purgatory (debunked theory) and Nanotechnology (debunked theory)? --Marik7772003 04:51, 7 January 2007 (PST)

Lostpedia is the Hanso Foundation

I know this exposes all your secrets but can this go in the template? Please don't kill me because I hold knowledge of this page's existance. --Princess Dharma (banned),12:54, 1 February 2007 (PST)

I second the motion to add. Of course, my vote doesnt count, taking into account i created it. However I do feel this article deserves to be added to the template. -- Iron Man  Send a message  View contributions  17:47, 4 February 2007 (PST)

Add please! (Isolation815 20:29, 15 April 2007 (PDT))

"Last Humans" theory debunked

The "Last Humans" theory has been proven wrong by the events of Season 3. Since the Others know about what is going on in the outside world (e.g. the Red Sox), they can't be the only humans left on Earth. So, someone should move it to the "Already debunked" category. --Ghtx 22:42, 10 March 2007 (PST)
