  • Desmond contemplates suicide and discovers Penelope's letter inside his Our Mutual Friend. He hears Locke banging on the Hatch and he shines a light up the shaft to investigate. The light inspires Locke, and Desmond realises the outside world hasn't been destroyed (by the system failure).

Day 42 - Tuesday, November 2, 2004

  • George W. Bush is re-elected as President of the United States.

  • Jack tells Shannon that Boone has died, and blames Locke.

Day 43 - Wednesday, November 3, 2004

"Born to Run"

  • Sayid takes Jack to the Hatch.
  • Arzt warns Michael that it is nearly the Monsoon season and the raft has to be launched as soon as possible.
  • Sun and Kate try to make Jin sick by poisoning his water. Sun wants to stop him risking his life on the raft, Kate wants his place on the raft.
    • Michael drinks the water and falls sick; he blames Sawyer.
    • Sawyer claims Kate framed him because she's a fugitive who wants to evade rescue by the authorities.
    • Jack learns Sun & Kate were the poisoners, but tells nobody.

"Tropical Depression"

  • Arzt confesses to Michael that he made up the monsoon season story to get them to launch the raft as soon as possible.

Day 44 - Thursday, November 4, 2004

"Exodus, Part 1"

  • Rousseau warns the survivors that the Others are coming.
  • Hurley and Rousseau are taken to the Hatch.
  • Jack organizes an expedition to the Black Rock to get dynamite to blow open the Hatch.
  • Walt gives Vincent to Shannon, to take care of her. She promises to look after him until he gets back.
  • Jin and Sun reconcile when she hands him a notebook with korean-to-english translations and pronunciations to help him communicate with Michael, Sawyer, and Walt. They apologize to each other, make amends, and Jin boards the raft, telling her he must do this to save her.
  • The raft is launched.

  • Shannon pursues Vincent into the jungle. She sees Walt, soaking wet. He whispers something then disappears.

The fact that it is Thanksgiving Day is completely ignored by all castaways and Others, possibly because the majority of American survivors are either treking with Eko or trying to save Libby. Nikki laments that Thanksgiving was forgotten by the Losties in the episode Exposé.

  • Jin turns 30 years old.

"A Tale of Two Cities" Inside the Hydra station

  • Jack is questioned by Juliet. During Jack's escape attempt Ben seems willing to sacrifice Juliet's life. Juliet weakens Jack's resistance using comprehensive information about his ex-wife.
  • Sawyer is kept in a large zoo cage. Karl escapes from the cage opposite and releases Sawyer; but both are soon re-captured.
  • Ben warns Kate the next two weeks will be quite unpleasant. Later Kate is caged opposite Sawyer; her wrists look badly scratched.

"Further Instructions"

  • Locke wakes up in the jungle, unable to speak, and needing to 'talk to the Island'. In a vision, Boone tells Locke to "clean up his own mess". Locke and Charlie rescue Eko from a polar bear.
  • Desmond wakes up in the jungle, naked. He meets Hurley and mentions a speech made by Locke. Later, at the beach camp, Hurley hears Locke making the speech.

Day 69 - Monday, November 29, 2004

"The Glass Ballerina"

  • Kate and Sawyer are put on work duty. Alex sneaks up to ask Kate about Karl. Sawyer starts a breakout to test the Others strength, but surrenders when Juliet threatens Kate at gunpoint.
  • Sayid, Jin and Sun set an ambush for the Others at the Pala Ferry. But the Others approach by sea at night and steal the Elizabeth with Sun on board. Sun escapes by shooting Colleen and jumping overboard.
  • Ben tells Jack his real name and that he has lived on the Island his entire life.
    • the survivors have spent 69 days on the Island
    • the current date is 29 November 2004
    • George Bush was re-elected
    • Christopher Reeve died
    • the Red Sox won the World Series.
  • Ben plays Jack a video of the Red Sox victory, then offers to take him home if he co-operates.

"There's No Place Like Home, Part 1"

  • Michael and Walt reach "an island" where they sell the Pala Ferry and hop a cargo ferry back to the States.

Day 70 to Day 75

"Meet Kevin Johnson"

  • Michael leaves Walt with Michael's mother in New York City.
  • Michael attempts suicide by driving a car into a wall.
  • Michael wakes in a hospital where he sees a vision of Libby.
  • Michael's mother prevents him from seeing Walt when Michael attempts to visit.

Day 70 - Tuesday, November 30, 2004

"Every Man for Himself"

  • Jack and Juliet fail to save Colleen's life. Jack sees X-rays of a spinal tumor and suspects that the Others want him to operate on someone.
  • Sawyer is tricked into believing the Others have put a deadly pacemaker inside his chest.
  • Desmond foresees a lightning bolt killing Charlie, and constructs a lightning rod to deflect it.
