User:Danhm/Proposed AUP
From Lostpedia
It's come to my attention that there is no Acceptable Usage Policy for the chat. Each op seems to have their own set of unspoken rules which they enforce. I've decided to draft an AUP, using the forums rules as a basis. Chat users -- what do you think? Propose changes on the talk page, please.

Respect your peers
If you disagree with someone, debate and sarcasm is fine, but argue their idea; do not personally attack that person.
We take abuse and harassment seriously. Every story has two sides, so if you feel like you are being targeted, either in the channel or through private messages, please save all messages and let one of the ops know.
No FSERVs
We are not a file sharing channel. Turn off or disable your file server. Do not request trades.
No flooding
- Do not send large chunks of text to the channel.
- Do not rapidly trigger the bots.
- Do not start a round of trivia in the middle of an active conversation, #lostpediatrivia is designed for this purpose.
- Please don't spam smileys.
No spoilers
Many Lost fans wish to remain spoiler free. Use #lost-spoilers to discuss spoilers.
Other stuff
I'm not sure how to categorize, but here are other things I'd like to mention:
- Using the chat is a privilege, not a right.
- The ops have the final say; the chat is not a democracy.
- This AUP is less extensive than the wiki and forums because a user isn't going to randomly stumble into the chat; they make the choice to be there. Like how they can swear and have nudity on HBO.
- Mark NSFW links as such
- The official language is English.
