Signing Talk Pages

Hey when editing on a discussion page, end with --~~~~. If you look at the toolbar above, its the second to last button that looks like a fancy signature. Just always click that at the end. --Nickb123 (Talk) 02:44, 8 November 2006 (PST)

Thanks :D (yey its working! lol) --lewisg 02:46, 8 November 2006 (PST)

England LOST airdate

Thanks for the headsup, but we were already fully aware of when it was airing. We've known for a few weeks now :-) -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  13:19, 8 November 2006 (PST)

Lol ok thanks, just added it as the thing wasnt changed (ironically it changed the second before i put the comment there! lol) --lewisg 13:29, 8 November 2006 (PST)

Theory pages

  • Please add Theorytabtop to the top of any theory pages you make. Thanks! -- Paladine<c.t> 15:20, 14 November 2006 (PST)

Sorry For The Language

  • But he really irritated me, I try to make a legitimate point and he gets so cocky. But yeh won't happen again.--Joe 14:29, 21 November 2006 (PST)
    • Lol no problem dude :) just gives me something to edit :D --lewisg 14:30, 21 November 2006 (PST)

Just a little question..

Can i just ask, are we able to delete old talk topics if they are irrelevant now? and clogging up the page?

no. storing text takes up very little server space, and very full talk pages can be archived; so it's not really an issue. also, please don't edit other user's comments on talk pages. you may find swearing offensive personally, but they're not your sentiments to edit. in response to your other question (which people are more likely to notice if you post on another user's talk page, rather than your own!), my understanding is that sysop status is given when the admin decides there's a need for more sysops, and it's decided by consensus between existing sysops. feel free to give me a shout on my talk page if you have any questions! --kaini. 18:51, 21 November 2006 (PST)

Podcast

Hey, I see you're a UK user. I got asked about being a caller on the official UK Lost Initiative podcast run by Sky One but don't really wanna do it. Unlike most though, I email the producer directly so was thinking of giving the golden opportunity to someone else? If you're interested, please message/email me ASAP with your best telephone number with which to reach ya, and I'll pass it along. Its being recorded on Tuesday 11am-12pm. Regards, --Nickb123 (Talk) 15:32, 8 December 2006 (PST)

Thanks for the message :) unfortunately though id be prone to getting embarressed and mixing up my words lol. (Besides, i could just tell them what happens in episode 5/6 as a "theory" as ive seen them anyway lol). Appreciate the offer though, thanks! --lewisg 15:36, 8 December 2006 (PST)
Well its for episode "I Do" anyway so you wouldn't be giving anything away, but fair enough mate, thats pretty much why I don't wanna do it too (well, I just feel weird about the idea of being on radio more!). If ya change your mind lemme know hehe ;-) --Nickb123 (Talk) 15:43, 8 December 2006 (PST)
hehe id be worried about talking to them.. especially after that guy on Edition four got maulled for saying something.. although if i remember right he was bordering a little bit insane.. lol --lewisg 15:50, 8 December 2006 (PST)

Re:Alex

Yup, also there is discrepancy on the idea of her never seeing them, as she said they control the radio tower. How does she know that if she never saw them? Also, Brandon is obviously an enemy of some kind and so probably an Other. We agreed though, like I wrote in the summary, that she would have screamed for her most likely - and lets face it the Others know a heck of a lot about Jack, Kate, Sun etc etc - a name is the least of it --Nickb123 (Talk) 13:07, 11 December 2006 (PST)

She didn't say that - I interpreted him as someone pretending to be another castaway... --Nickb123 (Talk) 13:11, 11 December 2006 (PST)
Use --Nickb123 (Talk) 13:24, 11 December 2006 (PST)

I've got my eye on him - no cause for major concern. Mellow! ;-) (nah if he does anything serious, he's outta here) --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:26, 12 December 2006 (PST)

Wasnt Brandon a guy from her Science expedition thing? --lewisg 13:08, 11 December 2006 (PST)

Hi, Lewisg. The name is Brennan and yes he was part of Danielle's crew [1]. - Cheers 15:31, 12 December 2006 (PST)

Recent Changes

It is Portuguese. Have a good day.--LOCI!

Re:School

Its a little complicated - lets just say I play hookie a lot... :-)--Nickb123 (Talk) 07:15, 13 December 2006 (PST)

Anyway, speak for yourself! --Nickb123 (Talk) 07:16, 13 December 2006 (PST)

Dave LaChappelle

Yep, that's weird. I have no idea why it isn't showing up as a member of that category. On a side note, I noticed that you put the entire html of the article into your link in the request on the talk page. You probably already know, but just in case, if the link is inside Lostpedia, then you don't have to do that. For example: Kate and http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Kate will both lead you to Kate, but one is much shorter to type. Cheers! -BearDog 15:08, 15 December 2006 (PST)

Re:TLI

If you follow the link I've put on the article, you should be able to download it onto the computer and transfer it to Itunes. Otherwise, I thought you could just go on "Advanced", "Subscribe to a podcast" and enter that link. If it still isn't working, try using this one [2], thereby signing up to it again. Sorry, I don't know much about Itunes really, I've just picked up a few things from the LOST board on Skyone.co.uk --Nickb123 (Talk) 05:36, 18 December 2006 (PST)

Background cast

  • Hey, I know you hate red links and all, but those background cast were left that way because we don't really have any info to add to those pages :) But if you really want to keep the pages, could you at least help me put them in standard format? You can follow the example here:

Lau_Beth_Merritt (please replace names where necessary, categorize by last name, and use Male.jpg instead with male characters). Thanks for your help... --PandoraX 10:55, 4 January 2007 (PST)

  • Hah, alright, I'll have to leave it to you then, because you started them... I'll get back to them later if you haven't gotten a chance. But just warning you, someone else may still want them deleted later, because they are really stubs with no info. --PandoraX 10:59, 4 January 2007 (PST)
  • Don't forget the category tags please! Otherwise they end up going by first name. Sorry to put it on you, but I don't have time right now, and you kind of took it on as a project yourself :P --PandoraX 11:11, 4 January 2007 (PST)

Message from Mr. Crabby

Arsenal?

IP blocks

  • Yeah, Bob's been blocked many, many times from LP, including the IP of every account he's used to vandalize. The problem is that some people are able to use rotating or nonstatic IPs, so they return under another later. But it's not really a big deal, because every wiki has its resident vandals and trolls, and we have a lot of people watching over lately. He hasn't acted up very recently (since your post), has he? --PandoraX 22:21, 13 January 2007 (PST)

Thanks

Thanks for the advice about CI I think I will make a portfolio. I'll need to scout for some help first though, find some other people he has been offensive to. THE MONSTER .

Ok well il help anyway I can. Best way to find out things is to go through past talk pages (CI's one definately and some of the normal article talk pages you might find stuff there. --lewisg 13:03, 22 January 2007 (PST)
  • Thank you for your help in this matter. He has had impatience with new users who are not aware of LP's processes, especially if they turn around and lodge personal attacks in response to his brusqueness. Yes dropping it at this point is the healthiest, and easiest thing. We'll see what happens. Welcome btw, I don't think I've met you before. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 13:16, 22 January 2007 (PST)
    • Ah yes, I think I recognize your userpage now. You have been around. =) -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 13:43, 22 January 2007 (PST)

Hits ad

I'm assuming its a play out error. The next LOST on Sky is one week today, A Tale of Two Cities being repeated nightly before the series starts. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  05:06, 29 January 2007 (PST)

Difference Button

  • I just asked Captain Insano to include a summary to his edits. He told me he didn't need to because of a difference button. Can you confirm the existance of said button and it's location?
  • Thanks. (More Hugz 4 Lewisg) You know what woulda bin nice though? If he had told me instead of being a jerk about it. Princess Dharma

Transcript

Ah my heart bleeds for you Lewisg, I remember transcribing podcasts and video from the Lost Experience - not the nicest thing to have to deal with. Though the high at the end is pretty cool. Good luck to ya mate! --Nickb123 (Talk) 12:45, 31 January 2007 (PST)

  • No problem, good job on doing the podcast, and so quickly too.-Mr.Leaf 14:28, 31 January 2007 (PST)
  • Good job, I tryed writting a transcript for a podcast once and gave up after a minute or so. My respect goes out for you --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 14:31, 31 January 2007 (PST)
  • Yah, I'm ADD when it comes to things like that --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 14:33, 31 January 2007 (PST)
  • Here's an extra pat on the back... I have been giving anyone who sits down and puts in the amount of time necessary to do a good job with a podcast transcription (several hour commitment, in many cases) an assitance medal. I just feel it is effort that is "above and beyond" the usual small edits we all do on LP to improve the site. Thanks for your help with that project! (Also, thanks for making a page for Chris, the announcer; I've edited my other podcast transcriptions to include him). (Feel free to cut and paste the medal below onto your front page if you'd like... just please remove it from your talk page if you do and replace with [former location of assistance medal] so that it doesn't show up twice) --PandoraX 17:33, 31 January 2007 (PST)

[former location of assistance medal]

  • Wow, I medal, maybe I should rethink this whole podcast thing --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 19:25, 31 January 2007 (PST)
  • Hell yeah! :D thanks!! --lewisg 02:56, 1 February 2007 (PST)

Number of Edits

  • The only way I know how is to use the (upper right hand) link "my contributions". It shows 500 at a time, so I keep going back in my contributions history ("Past 500"), and count how many pages until the end. I've been pretty busy last few months, so honestly, I've stopped keeping track. Take care, buddy... --PandoraX 17:33, 31 January 2007 (PST)
  • After selecting 500, you can manually edit the URL to set it to 1000 or 2000, then scroll your pages at that increment at a time. It might be something I'll ask Dagg to automate better =) -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 17:39, 31 January 2007 (PST)

Transcript links

  • Heh, I think it's fine for short transcripts that aren't a part of a series. Honestly, it's kind of a rule I made up myself, when we started getting Spooky to give us the episode transcripts... I just didn't want people doing a few wiki links on the tops of some and then not doing it for others, it would look ugly and not uniform. But it's no big deal for things that aren't "pure" transcripts, like the Final Episode thing. If you look at the DJ Dan live transcripts, there are links sprinkled over. I don't think that bothers me, as long as the episode and podcast ones don't start getting in that habit since there are just so many of them.. it would be nice if they all looked clean.
On a similar note, I'm not sure if I'll be around the site forever, unfortunately, due to some personal issues, starting March. Since you've kind of got a hang of the podcast transcript tips, would you mind being the point of contact if other volunteer transcribers have questions? --PandoraX 16:42, 2 February 2007 (PST)

Just a head's up...

  • Just to let you know, since you've worked on podcast transcripts before--apparently, the podcast producer's name is Kris White (that spelling). I've gone through and made all the changes I could find in the past transcripts and transcribing instructions, but just letting people know. Apparently, he edits his own page, too (one of a couple of "celebrity" editors we have on lostpedia; pretty cool, eh?) --PandoraX 04:40, 6 February 2007 (PST)
  • Oh no no, please don't misunderstand :) YOu did nothing wrong; the info just wasn't known at that time (I didn't know either). --PandoraX 06:09, 7 February 2007 (PST)

Cindy Chandler

Hey Lewisg! I actually agree with the edits Princess Dharma made to the Cindy article. First, information from future episodes is a spoiler, and shouldn't be in the main article even if it was in the Lost Moments. Second, while she was in flashback, it was only on the plane. Cindy is a known Crash survivor, and we don't count Charlie as a Jack flashback character, even though he did appear in a flashback from the plane. I'll leave the Cats alone to see what you think, but I'm going to pull the spoiler for now. Thanks! -BearDog 14:58, 7 February 2007 (PST)

Thanks for understanding, I just didn't want to start an edit war over something silly. :D -BearDog 15:28, 7 February 2007 (PST)

Updating browser

Yeah, I hear you. There's a newer version out. But with microsoft, that isn't always a good thing. Every version of software they release has drawbacks. Either it's an increased corporate invasion of privacy, or massive security holes that don't get fixed till much later. But I like Explorer as an interface, and I'm content with an older version that I trust. Sure, other browsers have nifty tabs, but I don't actually like tabs in-browser. I have a copy of firefox that I never use. It's got the same feel that Netscape Navigator used to have, doomed from the beginning. I think the concerns that Nick was responding to came out of a misunderstanding. It looks to me like he's looking for broad feedback on a new skin, while the people who've been complaining seem to believe he's about to make it the site default. They're concerned that newer users won't want to update their browers just to look at our site. It's a valid concern, just a little premature I think. -BearDog 11:57, 19 February 2007 (PST)

Lost In England

Being a lost fan in the United Kingdom myself, I can't help myself and look at the spoilers for the upcoming episode anyway. Do you actually manage to stay away? DrGiggles 14:26, 22 February 2007 (PST)

  • At least I can only find out about one episode through spoilers because last season i knew how it would end half way through! DrGiggles 14:34, 22 February 2007 (PST)
