Re:Hatch
Geez, Nick, what happened? You used to be more understanding...what I wrote just stated that they responded to the convenience of the front door during a podcast, like a piece of trivia. --SilvaStorm
- Well you could write that in, then! Obviously my encyclopaedic skills are not up to par as yours are, so go ahead. --SilvaStorm
Re:Pics
Alright, mate, no problem. Sorry about that, it's the first time I've ever done this whole replacing images thing, so I'm not used to it. I'll bear it in mind in future. :) -- Lost Soul talk contribs 02:35, 9 December 2006 (PST)
- Ok, that's cool on the pics thing. And to be honest, I've never listened to the Lost Initiative, so, I'm afraid I won't be able to do any call-ins. Plus, exams take up my time anyway. But thanks for the offer, I appreciate it. :) -- Lost Soul talk contribs 02:56, 9 December 2006 (PST)
re: Podcast
Thanks very much for the offer, but I don't think I'd have much to say :P You should take it up! -Chris[dt7] 02:57, 9 December 2006 (PST)
Pics Mostly Done
Hey, a lot of the pics are cropped now. I took off the Images to be Replaced thing as well. So all I have to do are the ones I did for season 2. *groans* It's gotta be done though. :) Just thought you should know so you don't waste your time later on. -- Lost Soul talk contribs 05:45, 9 December 2006 (PST)
Me Again!
Hey Nick, I have a query. On the Listening station page, there was a gallery of images at the bottom. I removed it, as I believe that isn't allowed by Fair Use rules? My question is: What do I do with the images I got rid of? Should they go in a category called [[Category: Images of the the Listening station]]? Or just be gotten rid of? Thanks a lot. -- Lost Soul talk contribs 04:19, 10 December 2006 (PST)
Promos
Hi Nick, noticed that you're adding the template to profile promo images and some other, that's cause of the tag, right ? I may volunteer to crop and upload them back later today after you finish labeling, as I was thinkin of doing it a while ago. Regards-- 08:45, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- Is that Ok with you ? Or were you intending to do it ?-- 10:28, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- Cool. Regards-- 10:36, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- Yep, been noticing that :)-- 10:44, 11 December 2006 (PST)
RE:Pics
Hey! The second image on it was aligned right originally, meaning it was the first paragraph and then a massive gap until the second paragraph and pic. I aligned the pic left and it fixed. I can change it back if you wish. Also, is my rewriting of the Kate article OK so far? I only did a bit but I'm worried I'm putting too much. Let me know. Thanks, -- Lost Soul talk contribs 09:33, 11 December 2006 (PST)
Ben's page
I was just wondering - would you mind to change the pictures on Ben's page (Season 2 section) just like you did with Ethan's page? I don't know where you got that picture on the right, so I thought you might find some pictures like that one for Ben too. Thanks, Obi-Dan Kenobi 10:10, 11 December 2006 (PST)
:D
Yay, well I'm always happy for geek cred :) How did you check for the total number of edit contribs? --PandoraX 12:15, 11 December 2006 (PST)
Alex
Hey Nick :)
Just wanted to ask you what the answer to the question I put on the Alex page was? lol Thanks. --lewisg 13:04, 11 December 2006 (PST) Woops sorry just saw your summary. --lewisg 13:05, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- Good point :) Wasnt Brandon a guy from her Science expedition thing? --lewisg 13:08, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- Cool, another thing, how do you become a "Lostaway"?
- Thanks Nick :) --lewisg 13:30, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- Cool, another thing, how do you become a "Lostaway"?
Ethan pic
Hi, I don't quite understand what you're getting at with the picture alignment issue. I wasn't readjusting to suit the narrative point, I was fixing what I perceived to be a problem with location that results in a cascading effect and off-balance in the text. Is it just my browser? Bellemichelle 13:13, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- Thanks - I am using a flatscreen now, so maybe? I'll try to resist the temptation to make any more picture-alignment edits until I figure it out :) Bellemichelle 13:23, 11 December 2006 (PST)
Intercom Voice?
I noticed you pulled the unanswered question of whether the voice in the intercom, that told Jack his cell door was open, was Alexandra Rousseau. How do you know? Thanks! -BearDog 13:48, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- I wasn't so sure. It was definitely a female voice, but with the static I thought it could have just as easily been Juliet. In fact, it would have made more sense to me. -BearDog 14:15, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- It did to me at first too. But that doesn't really make any sense. That voice led Jack to the control room to find Sawyer and Kate's onscreen post-coital cuddle, where Ben found him, and Jack subsequently volunteered to do Ben's surgury. Later, Ben asked if Alex had asked about him, which seemed a strong hint that he hadn't spoken to her. It seems to me that whoever was using the speaker would have been doing so on Ben's orders, since it was the catalyst for his play. There are several women among the others, and it could have just as easily been one of them.
I don't know, maybe I'm reading too much into it. It could be one of those things the producers thought would be as obvious as you do, I just didn't see a reason for Alex to do anything of the sort. -BearDog 14:41, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- Before I answer, I'd like to preface this. I swear I'm not just being argumentative. I'm talking it through, because I seem to be the only person who has doubts it was Alex. You seem very confident on the point, and I was wondering if I'd missed a clue somewhere else. I thought the voice sounded like her too, but the byte was short and the quality was bad, and they haven't shown anything else yet that would make it definitively her voice. A quick shot of her using another intercom would have settled it, but I have a feeling they left it mysterious intentionally. I think you're probably right, I just don't think we have enough evidence to make it sound factual yet. -BearDog 15:04, 11 December 2006 (PST)
Images :)
Hi Nick, I can see how concerned you are about the widescreens view, but I have to say that the article now really looks worse. In the first place, this episode was never cluttered with images compared to many others within the sames season, such Raised by Another, or Homecoming, which deserve much more tending. Cluttering is proportional to the size of text in the page, and how are the images dispersed. After removing only a couple of images, I see the page now, on my Laptop wide screen as rather empty. So, instead of me trying to re-align images to enable adding them back, which was what I was about to do, and you reverting it to keep the alignment, but resulting in the large gaps between sections or paragraphs that I now see in many pages you worked on, is not a solution...Sorry, but I prefer to go back to its original form, maybe while keeping the 2nd flashback image as is under the info box, but currently the page looks really worse compared to others.-- 13:59, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- I thought I made two examples :) for more reference, please see Special for flashback images that are also on top of one another, though the text allows fr a better positioning. See also The Greater Good for a similar example with flashback images, which in this case are 4 out of 14 images in the same episode, 9 of which are at the rtime events part. See also Homecoming for a very cluttered episode with images, among others. I agree of course that less is much more, but now, regardless of the state of other episodes, and only compared to what it used to be before you removed that lot including the last one another image which leaves only 1 in the flashback that doesn't serve much in its illustration, now for Whatever the case, it's just too less. Even compared to Dave (episode) current look, the original form of Whatever was basically fine in my opinion. I'm sorry but I'll try and keep your alignment, but I have to add at least two important images back, to preserve the episodes quality. I hope you don't revert it back after I do and instead please work with me on aligning them better, which I agree with you is a real problem that required amends-- 14:27, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- Again you impress me with a cool head :) Thanks, and before I make changes, wana check something with you, in case I would readd the 2nd flashback image again at the top of the 2nd paragraph, for the alignment you end up seein on ur screen, is it better to add it at the right or the left ?-- 14:35, 11 December 2006 (PST)
- I've just finished, trying also to preserve the alignment. please feel free to realign the images if needed, to reach optimum layout. Regards-- 16:02, 11 December 2006 (PST)
Article Attack
Hello again. Is there going to be a new article attack for this week? It doesn't look like Lostpedia:Talk was a big success.. Maybe another article, which needs more information. Cheers, Obi-Dan Kenobi 15:09, 11 December 2006 (PST)
Hey, just being careful
Though I don't want it to seem as if I'm automatically shooting bullets at anyone with "Bob" in their username, User:Billybobalobadob was just created, so could you keep an eye out for a few minutes, just in case?
Great idea!
Hi, just wanted to say that closing Lostpedia for editing during the holidays is a great and brave idea! Specially remembering the recent experience with vandals at the time that not everyone was around...So who ever came up with that, individually or collectively, deserves applaud :)-- 14:16, 12 December 2006 (PST)

Not in Portland
Yes, that's implied, however you could pre-has about any upcoming episode. The only confirmed info is that "Not in Portland" is the name of a title of an episode. We shouldn't add anything more until ABC Medianet puts out a press release. You may remember that they changed the order of episodes around for the first half of the season so it's possible that they could do it again. -- Jabberwock talk contribs email - 10:00, 13 December 2006 (PST)
- ABC Medianet usually puts out a press release on the Monday two weeks prior to the air date. "I Do" had a press release on Oct 23. link. -- Jabberwock talk contribs email - 10:05, 13 December 2006 (PST)
Edit Counter
How can you tell how many edits you've made? I can only tell mine up to 500, and I know for a fact I have done more than that because I remember the first page I edited. i see you have over 6000 edits; I just wanna know so I can put an edit counter on my userpage.--LOCI!
ABC
- A quick request, since I think you're the most knowledgeable about TLE. I wanted to clarify in the ABC article what ABC's role in TLE was. The TLE storyline and game execution was creatively supervised ultimately by Touchstone/Lost's-creative-team right? In other words, it's "more" canon than the diary. However the bloggers worked for their respective networks, and specifically, Speaker worked for ABC right? Which websites did Speaker frequent, and were those ABC sites, or Touchstone sites? I know I probably have my questions all mixed up, but I think you see the issues that might be clarified in the ABC article. If you have a chance, could you take a stab? Thanks!-- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 23:57, 16 December 2006 (PST)
- It can go anywhere, I think the structure of the article has been changing as we add more parts. For now, I think it'll fit fine as a new sub-subsection 2.3 "The Lost Experience", under "Lost production", or as 3.3 under "Internet". If you don't like either section you can create a main subsection "The Lost Experience." We can always move it around later. Feel free to edit other errors in content or structure that you see. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 13:03, 17 December 2006 (PST)
Hey, Me Again
Hello, sorry to be a bother again, but I need some help. On my userpage, you will see that I have made it all nice and pretty and stuff, but I hav a problem. I would like for the boxes to be in twos, going across. If you know what I mean. So, instead of one box, then underneath another, then underneath another, and so on; I would like two boxes side by side, then underneath, the same, and so on. I really hope that made sense lol, and if it didn't... well, I can attempt to clarify. Sorry again, and thanks, -- Lost Soul talk contribs 00:43, 18 December 2006 (PST)
- Thank you so, so, so, so much. I really appreciate it. Also, I may as well let you know that today I've been going through the pages with galleries and removing them to comply with fair use and whatnot. Just thought you should know. I didn't do Jackface, though, I'm not really sure what to do with that.... lol. -- Lost Soul talk contribs 03:50, 18 December 2006 (PST)
- Yah I dunno what I'm going to do about the episodic articles. I think I'll wait for more people to vote on it in the MoS discussion and see what comes of that. And yeah, as for the character articles, some of them were shocking - going from present to past, back to present, and so on. It was messy. I haven't done them all yet, though. I'll do more either later today or tomorrow. :-) -- Lost Soul talk contribs 04:58, 18 December 2006 (PST)

Your Userpage
Hi Nick, I have a favour to ask. Would it be OK if I borrowed a tiny bit of the coding you used for your userpage? It's just... on my page, in the middle, you can see the LOST logo isnt centralised, and I thought that if I used the bit on yours where you have the Pearl scribble, it would fix it. Of course, I'd change it to my colours and stuff, but I thought I'd ask your permission first. Thanks -- Lost Soul talk contribs 05:24, 18 December 2006 (PST)

Episode Levels
Hi Nick, I have started lately working on my late task of adding Recurring Themes to episodes, with little rewrites while at it. I've started with Pilot: Part 1. So I wanted to ask you in case I have time to continue, shall I remove or change the Episodes levels after accordingly, or do you prefer that I write you the episodes I finish here, and you can check them later? I'm glad you brought the page to my attention. I looked in the talk page and actually found that Cool Man had put in 3 sources where this was refuted, 2 by Javi at The Fuselage, saying that Smokey didn't cause the turbine explosion, the turbine man getting sucked in did. I'll put them on the main page so that future fans don't get misled, too. Good luck with the alternate theories either way. Fortunately, you didn't put all your eggs in one basket with that. --PandoraX 06:14, 28 December 2006 (PST)

Sorry to be a bother...
Since you had answered my question and was really nice about it, I was wondering if you'd mind answering another question from a bit of a newb?
If I wanted to add information/ symbol analysis onto a place on lostpedia, where's the best place to put it? With theories or with the mention of the symbol itself? For example, would the following be out of line in an article: "In 'The White Rabbit,' Jack's father can be said to reflect the white rabbit of the Alice in Wonderland story while Jack would reflect the character of Alice. Jack follows his father to find fresh water just as Alice follows the ever-elusive White Rabbit to Wonderland. An interesting note is that both stories have the Alice character being led into a cave-like opening by the White Rabbit." Or is there a better place for it elsewhere? Thanks! [Again, really sorry for being such a dunce!]--Innocencewithonus 14:33, 4 January 2007 (PST)
- Thank you for the encouragement and support! : ) --Innocencewithonus 20:58, 4 January 2007 (PST)
So... a day on lostpedia and i already manage to do something useless. I uploaded a file that has NOTHING to do with LOST because i figured i could delete the file any old time. i just wanted to see how the uploader worked... Well, now I can't figure out how to delete it... And I'm REALLY sorry- this will the last annoying question I ask you EVER! Just... a little help, please??
Mockingbird, Etc
- No problem on that. It's been a while since I read it, so the details are a little cloudy, though I do kind of consider the gifts to be a sign of friendship, just not direct (and I believe I have also seen other unofficial sources use that term, I thought). But you're welcome to change it around a bit (maybe "reaches out to" instead?). On A-Missions, I really think it was a group effort. I just saw Daniel messing around with the unwieldy infobox templates, and I didn't like that look at all, so I made the long templates, and then LostSoul and Dagg did some color and other stuff to it. I told them not to give me the AA award, and I mean that, because honestly a lot more people have done work with it, and I wouldn't have cared about templates to begin with. Maybe give it to LS because he was the most proactive with getting people together on it, but I don't really know if others have contributed more either. PS: I am trying to push for them not to put SO much stuff in the boxes (like the "meaning to the Lost story" paragraphs), though, they are getting carried away and too long. --PandoraX 16:48, 7 January 2007 (PST)

Hey, thanks for catching that clown shoes so fast. I was just wondering if it wouldn't be worth it to add some of the common vandal names to the list of things you can't create as a user account. Like "Admin", "sysop", "lostpedia", etc., and add "Shit", "Piss", "Fuck", "Bastard", "Cock", "Poo", "Boobs", "Fag", etc. Can that be automated in the wiki, or is that something you guys have to pick off as it comes up? -BearDog 09:25, 18 January 2007 (PST)

Is it necessary to say you are pissed off? That attitude sucks, and frankly, will only cause people to become hostile, or worse, subservient and afraid to give their opinion. You are coming off as arrogant. -- Dagg talk contribs4 8 06:43, 25 January 2007 (PST)
- I doubt you were unincluded purposely. This past/present discussion has been happening for months in multiple locations, and several sysops have given their opinion, and the proposed MoS was updated by a sysop. Someone even got frustrated and recently asked for even further clarification here: [1] . This is the second time in a week that I've seen users get frustrated that they were out-of-the-loop and that they deserved consultation. Maybe there is somewhere else in particular we can ask people to discuss these far-reaching policies? -- Dagg talk contribs4 8 07:22, 25 January 2007 (PST)
- Well I agree we probably need to use the community portal for policy changes.... However, I do believe that the argument Nick has put forward is not about tense, but about poor English skills. Look at the MOS talk page for my reasoning. -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 07:59, 25 January 2007 (PST)
- Yeah, but there is an undertone of present tense being more fitting. However, I completely agree, we have a lot of problems at the moment on these synopses and we need some kind of specific manual of style, which I've quickly had a go at doing, basically pointing out my biggest gripes without going into the tense issue --Nickb123 (Talk) 08:03, 25 January 2007 (PST)

Nick, stop the changes! Consensus said past tense. While I understand your concern at how badly this stuff is written, its not the fact that its in past tense. -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 08:22, 25 January 2007 (PST)
- Sorry I was just writing for detail, I'm not making a statement. The tense can easily be changed afterwards. EDIT: Sorry I realise how that came across, its just thats how I've always rewritten the articles. I assumed someone would later change the tense. And I am concerned about past tense, but I wasn't trying to deliberate smite anyone with defiance, I just write better in present for ep guides. I'll change it afterwards if that is the consensus --Nickb123 (Talk) 08:23, 25 January 2007 (PST)
Tense drama
Hey, I was the person who asked the question on the MOS talk page. I've been cruising the talk pages this morning, and noticed there was a little bit of tension. When I asked the question three months ago, it really was just a question- not a poll. Then somebody voted. Then it sat for two months, and people started voting again. Then last week somebody counted up, and called it closed. I'm sorry if you felt excluded, that was certainly never on the agenda. The issue obviously still isn't closed, as some important voices weren't heard. Personally, I believe that past tense sounds much better than a present tense, which I would reserve solely for live sports commentary, but I'll try to convince you of that elsewhere. In the meantime, thank you for making the issue public again; it affects most of the articles on the site, so the more contributors involved in the discussion, the better. Thanks! -BearDog 09:33, 25 January 2007 (PST)
No one was trying to exclude you from anything. As basically the one that has been trying to drum up discussion about this, this actually helps a lot. The poll was not really even a poll, just a general concensus about how some people felt. No one meant to exclude you, it is just you weren't directly included--no users were. Personally, I had no idea who to reach out to when trying to resolve this issue, so I've been posting comments all over this site trying to find information on it. Sorry you felt excluded. And, the poll nmeant nothing. David 20:13, 25 January 2007 (PST)
RE: your comment on the main page and EMOS
Lol, so we're too popular? That is funny. Good idea. Would you mind if I moved it to Lostpedia:Episode Manual of Style(proposed), or something, to keep it public? I've noticed a lot of varying opinions about what makes a good synopsis. There's the obvious tense tension, but also the level of detail seems up in the air. Some prefer a blow-by-blow account, others seem to go for short-and-sweet coverage of the main storyline. It might be useful to create a centralized place to hash out those compromises so they can be implemented sitewide. Otherwise we might all just keep rewriting eachother's work perpetually. Whaddya think? -BearDog 15:27, 25 January 2007 (PST)
- I understand restricting the contributors for the transcripts, because they're concrete, and also because most of them are borrowed from other sites; but I don't think doing it for content created here would be good for Lostpedia. The episode synopses are some of the first places excited new users go, and we might chase them away if those pages are protected without cause (like repeated vandalism). On the other hand, if we do start up an EMOS (I like the acronym too), it might spare some feelings. Instead of saying "That's trivial", we could say "That's an interesting point, but doesn't fall within established guidlines for this page, perhaps a better place would be..." -BearDog 15:56, 25 January 2007 (PST)
images
Nick I wouldn't start anything with you =) I won't touch the images, I didn't know there was an issue. I did tweak the double episode Live Together, Die Alone pretty heavily, and left the rationale on the AOTW nominations page along with a comparison to the previous version. My main priority is that synopses remain brief, and not peppered with incidental quotes and play-by-play detail from the transcript. However if there's a discussion I'm missing, drop me a link so I don't inadvertently step on anyone's toes. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 16:39, 25 January 2007 (PST)
- Oh and btw if I see you in IRC I wanted to pick your brain about forums. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 16:40, 25 January 2007 (PST)
My Little Friend
- School IP, Nick. Annoying ass kid. (sorry for the language). Here's his Wikipedia page: User:Linuxmatt, and his name is... presto! Matt Carpenter, one of the most annoying people on the planet. Yeah, just go to his Wikipedia page, he has a couple links to his stuff there. And ban the little bastard for life. --Marik7772003 08:57, 26 January 2007 (PST)
Desmond
Hi Nick, I've only noticed like 10 mins ago that there is something wrong with Desmond's article...both his Nav-Main and Featured Article templates appear as links instead right above the article's categories, which doesn't repeat for other featured art. like Jack, Sayid..etc...does this problem appear for you as well..and do you know how can we fix it ? Regards-- 14:48, 26 January 2007 (PST)
Bob
Thanks for clearing that up. --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 08:52, 27 January 2007 (PST)
New Upgrade?
Hey, I see there's been an upgrade. I was just wondering what new features there are now? Thanks, -- Lost Soul talk contribs 09:19, 27 January 2007 (PST)
Re: AA
Wow, thanks! I really have to note that for the past week that Pickett's article was an AA, I had the feeling that Mr. Crabby is going to take it, and I'm really surprised. He did a great job. :) Thanks again! Obi-Dan Kenobi 17:29, 28 January 2007 (PST)
IP note
- Just dropping a quick note that the server is logging all user IPs recently as 64.255.163.70 or 64.255.163.71, which is also the webserver IP. Therefore if you spot a vandal, DON'T block either of these IPs. I dropped a note to Kevin's talk page. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 01:51, 30 January 2007 (PST)

Forum Sysop
- In last post are you saying that you guys (sysops) will only nominate users who are active both on the forums and Lostpedia? I might just be having a brain fart and misinterreputing your words.--CaptainInsano 13:38, 31 January 2007 (PST)
Help
Can you help me or tell me someone who can? I made a sig with your guide (which is awesome by the way), but when I sign the "Mr. Crabby" part will be on one line and the "Talk" part will be on another line. Do you know why this is doing this? Any help is appreciated. For examples see: [2] [3] [4] --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 13:43, 31 January 2007 (PST)
Note: It also did it on this page for my signiture
I think that did the trick, thanks man --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 13:47, 31 January 2007 (PST)
