Signatures

  • The signatures are messed up now. You know when type ~~~~here and save your changes and go back into the edit page it says like {{User:Username/sig}}. Now it says the content of the signature. Look at my signature on the edit page after you are done reading this-- CaptainInsano
I type ~~~ every time if that is what you mean. I just found out that under my preferences, and under "Nickname" it does say {{SUBST:User:Captain Insano/sig}} which it has alway been {{User:Captain Insano/sig}}, but when I change it back and save my changes it goes back to {{SUBST:User:Captain Insano/sig}}.-- CaptainInsano
I see what you mean. As a workaround, copy what I have done and create another page called autosig. Have that page referenced in your preferences as your nickname. That way when the subst happens, it will drop the template for your sig down instead. --   Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 11:16, 20 August 2006 (PDT)

== I know who "him" is!!! ==

dear editor i have recently gathered information on the so called leader of the pack "him". i cannot reveal how and when i got the information but i can share this and this only with you about "him". "him" is infact a 16 year old boy who is sikh (indian) and IS the monster. he dresses in black, has black hair and also has a scar on his left eye. he is the one that bought the aircraft down using nature (his best friend) to lure the aircraft to the island however this fails and the aircraft is sent to the WRONG island. "him" actually is a creation from dharma gone wrong and was therefore ditched on the island. the button plays a lot to do with this as everytime the losties/desmond do not enter the numbers into the computer "him" is actually reawakened from his enternal sleep. "him" is very dangerous but we first see him when jack goes through the island alone and stumbles into "him" where jack asks who are you?."him" then smiles and replys..................for more information please e-mail me at

  • Cough*Bull S@#t*Cough*. It sounds like he is a indian Harry Potter.-CaptainInsano 11:58, 20 August 2006 (PDT)

Not sure how to add this, but there is another lead to the VACCINE clue. The Aug 28th issue of People Weekly contains a Verizon ad on page 33 with a glyph and the phrase "Be the drama. Could that be removed? Personally I find it stressing, I liked it back when we didn't have it because that information is not imortant, there is no ratings competition betwen accessed articles. --†††GodEmperorOfHell††† 11:51, 22 August 2006 (PDT)

Lostpedia in Hebrew.

Hello. I'm Dan, originally from Israel (now I live in Canada). I saw that Lostpedia is now available in 8 different languages, and I thought that a Hebrew version will be useful as well. There are lots of fans in Israel, and they would be delight to have a Hebrew Lostpedia. I see that the only difference between the English version and the other versions is the main page (and maybe one of the portals), so I wouldn't mind to make the Hebrew version all by myself. The question is - How can I create the Hebrew version? What do I need to do?

Thanks, Obi-Dan Kenobi 10:23, 27 August 2006 (PDT)

Hello, Thanks for your message. I will add it to the list of languages for the next batch of lostpedias. Please post a note at [1] to let us know you're interested in a Hebrew version! --Admin 14:32, 28 August 2006 (PDT)

pt.lostpedia

Hi,

Just to let you know there is a Lostpedia version in portuguese at www.lostpedia.com.br. I don't know if it makes sense to rewrite what they have there here again or if it would by fair to copy their translation work. User:Whunter

  • yes. somebody made this wiki, but it doesn't have almost nothing translated.. just a few pages copied from lostpedia.. and pt.lostpedia server is much better and more organized! .:: Image:Bra.gif zOn3 ::. 12:18, 28 August 2006 (PDT)
Lostpedia.com.br does not have my permission to use the lostpedia name in this manner. I believe the domain was registered in bad faith and is being used improperly. I will contact the owners of lostpedia.com.br and let them know they are using the name Lostpedia without my permission. --Admin 14:26, 28 August 2006 (PDT)

Unfortunately the site will be shutdown... That was not my intention when I posted this info. It was an option for people like me that have firewall restictions for international websites at work. SORRY GUYS!!!--Whunter 16:13, 28 August 2006 (PDT)

Not your fault at all, Wunther. I seem to understand that it's their own decision if they choose to close their site. IMHO, they could just easily have decided to keep their Lost wiki, only without taking the exact name and the identical layout of the main page of Lostpedia, which was confusing for readers and which made them look like they were trying to pass themselves for Lostpedia. Mediawiki plugin

Hey, I've been reading this site for a long time and decided it was time to contribute. Seeing as I'm in Latin America, we're a ways behind you guys when it comes to episodes and the Lost Experience, so I figured I'd translate some articles to the Spanish version. However, the lack of the CharInsert plugin is a killer, as some browsers don't allow accents in the monobook theme. It's a pretty easy install, and then you can change [[MediaWiki:Edittools]] to the one on WikiPedia to make a nice interface for those who want to contribute in other languages. S2 Finale on ABC?

Just wanted to give heads up. My local cable company (Comcast) guide is showing "Live Together, Die Alone" replaying on ABC Sept. 25th. As of right now, 8:45 am EST 9/12, ABC's site is not showing any info on this, however I did notice that my on screen cable guide would show the George Lopez reruns replacing Lost before the ABC site would. I guess they send the info to the affiliates first before they update the site. I just wanted someone to know so when we can confirm this that it can be updated on the front page. I wouldn't want anyone to miss a chance for their Lost "fix".--scocub

If someone can confirm this please let me know, so I can update the This Week on Lost section accordingly. Thank you --plkrtn 06:06, 12 September 2006 (PDT)
Looks like that link is not working but if you check www.abcmedianet.com and lookup Lost press releases you will find it there.--scocub

Lostpedia Chat

I've done a Lostpedia:Chat page under help and thats got us a few extra faces, but Lostpeda Chat is still pretty dead. Would it be possible for a link to Lostpedia:Chat to appear as the site notice instead of the new languages (which are now on the nav bar anyway). Or, could Chat be on the navigation sidebar as well? We just wanted it a little more lively if possible. Thanks in advance --Nickb123 (Talk) 10:30, 12 September 2006 (PDT)

P.S. I know the "proper channel" will take months to sort, but I mean in the meantime could we advertise the temporary room a bit more. --Nickb123 (Talk) 10:38, 12 September 2006 (PDT)
  • I haven't kept track of what Nickb123 is asking, but IMHO it would be nice to have an IRC room live in time for the S3 opener. If the dedicated one at irc.lostpedia.com is estimated to not be ready by then, it would be great to post the gamesurge #lostpedia channel in the days before the S3 premiere. Moving people to the new chan will be easy (Look what happened when gamesnet moved to gamesurge, for example). Also, I've been working hard on the bot, and have just implemented what is probably the internet's only Lost trivia game. We're almost at 400 questions (goal would be more like 4000, like the normal trivia database), and have a public project page off my userpage No one else has anything like it, and it should provide a draw once the question DB is a bit more complete. here -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T11:16, 12 September 2006 (PDT)

Second group of new Languages.

Hello again. I would like to know when the second group of languages is going to be added to the current list of languages, and if the Hebrew version is included. ip question

  • I use Name Based Virtual Hosts, which allows multiple sites per IP... Can you check to see if she can connect to the IP address? Let me know if she can get to the GalacticaWiki. She might also try connecting to it via the the nyud.net caching proxy. http://www.lostpedia.com.nyud.net:8080/ If that doesn't work, then tell her to stop working on Lostpedia from work!! She's going to get fired!  ;) --Admin 19:27, 25 September 2006 (PDT)
  • Hehe, when I first read this, I thought it was "fired from lostpedia".. (and don't worry, I only do it when things get slow, it's not an issue). Ok, I'll check by going to the IP directly at work tomorrow (God forbid I actually do work then.. .hehe). One way I figured around this is to use Snoopblocker.com (anonymous surfing sieve), but I should warn that this could be a backway for vandals to enter relatively anonymously. I think for some reason it alternates in and out with giving me access. I really don't think it's a "recreational site" issue, since no other Lost sites or other wikis (including wikipedia) are blocked. --PandoraX 16:44, 30 October 2006 (PST)

    • Wie wie? like how?--Fan99 13:50, 9 October 2006 (PDT)

IRC Sysops request

I'd like suggest that you put out a request to encourage more sysops to idle in IRC, ideally a group in different timezones who idle often. That is the first place we hear about vandalism of the wiki in progress, and generally is the first place that the regulars editors (captaininsano, pandorax, dt7, etc.) drop by there to look for an admin. Nickb123 is usually the only sysop who is an irc regular, as most people use the java browser (rather than an irc client), and therefore tend not to stay there longer than a few minutes at a time.

On another note, I saw in the logs that you dropped by again and were looking for me. Stay and idle any time and when I see your idling (and logged-in & auth'd) account I'll hand over ownership of the channel. Once you get the irc.lostpedia.com server running, if you could post its URL in the front page portal news (next to the prominent lostpedia forums note), that would really help the channel. Or alternatively if that is not happening soon, if you could post the current channel, that would help as well.

Hey Admin! There is nothing more I would love than to become a SysOp here on Lostpedia! Do you think you could tell me some requirements on how I would achieve that status? Thanks! --SilvaStorm

Adverts

These adverts we have (Google and Amazon) need to be put into <DIV> containers so we can manipulate them via CSS. Currently if I edit any of the CSS on the site. I cannot move the elements around, which is causing me hassle trying to redesign the site somewhat. Can you get some of the plugins I mentioned to place these ads instead of what you've done and hardcoding them in -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  03:03, 16 October 2006 (PDT)

Sitenotice

The reason I had that sitenotice as it was, was because of our latest attempt to be recognised on Wikipedia.

I'm writing a request to Jimmy Wales about the uneven rule application on Wikipedia, and crediting ourselves as site of the week is part of being notable. Of course if there is a way you'd prefer to do that, let me know. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  03:10, 18 October 2006 (PDT)

I think it's just a little too old to use as the site notice. ;) --Admin 10:13, 18 October 2006 (PDT)

I've taken my Wikipedia issues to Jimmy Wales

[5] I'm sick of fighting sysops who can't enforce the rules correctly, like MatthewFenton who applies rules based on what shows he likes the most. So I've alerted Jimmy Wales to our issue to see if he can do anything about it, even pointing us in the right direction. I only think its fair that Wikipedia start applying consistent policies to fansites, so I've gone straight to the man. If Wookieepedia and Memory Alpha are there. Why aren't we? -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  05:03, 18 October 2006 (PDT)

Interesting. Although, I'm not sure Jimmy will help us get a Wikipedia listing. Since he has a financial interest in both of those other wiki's (Wikia.com). In fact, Lostpedia is the Lost Wikia's biggest competitor. Please let me know if he responds. Thanks. --Admin 10:11, 18 October 2006 (PDT)
However, Lost Wikia can't get their own article, when they're cousins Memory Alpha and Wookieepedia can... so its in his interest. Plus if he were to deny us and allow Lost Wikia, then he'd be accused of bias -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  10:17, 18 October 2006 (PDT)
Hi Kevin, Jimmy Wales seems to think we should have an article [6] he would also like to discuss closer ties between our two wikis. Could you speak to him about this, being owner of the site? -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  17:19, 18 October 2006 (PDT)
wow, i didn't expect that, especially so soon! anyway, i've also raised the issue (although moreso as a clarification of wiki policy rather than specifically) at the wikipedia village pump --kaini. 20:55, 18 October 2006 (PDT)
Very interesting. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'm not sure what he has in mind. It might be worth a conversation. --Admin 21:29, 18 October 2006 (PDT)
I personally don't think the wikipedia admin are very fair, but I think we should chill out with the crusade to get lostpedia listed. It's not going to help our image in the long run, and if we are patient, we'll gather more support as we can get more citations according to their DP:WEB policy. In the end, getting listed on wikipedia is no huge prize; the real recognition is with fans of the show within the fan community, not with another generic wiki. --PandoraX 21:39, 18 October 2006 (PDT)
the debate should always remain civil; perhaps going straight to jimbo jumped a level or two in the heirarchy over there, but nevertheless it's a good thing. it's rare for wales to reply that quickly, and i take that as heartening. also, the discussion on the wikipedia village pump has by definition more neutral editors. i don't view this as a crusade; it is simply following wiki protocol by taking the debate to a more neutral ground and audience than that present at Talk:Lost (TV series) over there, imo --kaini. 21:47, 18 October 2006 (PDT)
I definitely agree with Pandora - while it's OK to participate in the discussion over at wiki, we should be VERY cautious as posts by Lostpedia folk can be viewed as hostile and self-promoting if not done tactfully. I'd discourage starting straw polls or other votes, or participating in those votes if you're not a regular wikipedia contributor - it's counterproductive and comes off as fake grassroots ballot box stuffing. DON'T try and add links to lostpedia until wikipedia changes their consensus to allow it (it won't work anyway) - they have made accusations of spam which I strongly disagree with but we don't want to provide examples. And I STRONGLY STRONGLY recommend NOT linking to Jimbo's comments. He made those comments here and I think it's manipulative and disrespectful to make him a part of the discussion unwillingly - if he wants to make his opinions known on wikipedia, he'll post there. It's imperative that we take the high road in our interactions with wiki, not just because doing otherwise just makes wiki more inclined to blacklist us, but because it's simply the right thing to do. Wikipedia Issue

Hello Admin,

Sorry to bother you, but I have joined this great portal for a while now, and have managed to make some humble contributions. As I did, I was reading pieces here and there of the issue between our portal and Wikipedia, but was not able yet to grap the whole picture..Unfortunately, I could not locate article to sum up the story, which I believe is rather important to learn about for all the new ones wh join. Specially, that it comes handy in determining what mistakes not to fall in, such as the one I made a while ago by copy/pasting a pargraph from Wikipedia into a page of ours...

I know of course it will not be appropriate to raise the issue even further through posting an article here about it..but an insight on the story and its progress would indeed be very beneficial..

Thanks again for having me, and for all your effots.--Nomad 17:13, 18 October 2006 (PDT)

Toolbar

Hey Kevin, what do you think? Lostpedia Toolbar -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  06:27, 19 October 2006 (PDT)

Hmm.. How do these guys make money? Is there a catch? --Admin 10:47, 19 October 2006 (PDT)
From the Google/Ask.com searches made on the toolbar. They provide the system for free, they take revenue from the Google searches. [7] --13:05, 19 October 2006 (PDT)

Page Formatting

Whats happened to the page formatting? The navigation and tabs have been centralised to the page. CaptainInsano warned me about this earlier. Have you upgraded MediaWiki? -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  13:05, 19 October 2006 (PDT)

I noticed that too... No I didn't upgrade anything. I think it has to do with one of the content updates to the homepage. It seems to be broken in IE, but works great in Firefox. What browser are you using? --Admin 16:41, 19 October 2006 (PDT)
Did you make any changes to the index.php? Possibly tweaking google or amazon ads. Strangely, the --> that was appearing on the page before is no longer there. --   Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 17:09, 19 October 2006 (PDT)
I removed the Amazon Ad completely. Did it look fine before I removed the Ad? What browsers are you guys using? I'll check a backup of the page and see if I accidentally broke something. --Admin 22:41, 19 October 2006 (PDT)
Admin, look in the forum for the ads on I provided for serving adverts. I'm sure they would be much better than hardcoding anything in. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  02:17, 20 October 2006 (PDT)
I was able to work-around the issue by hard-coding some positioning into my monobook.css. It's just a workaround, but at least things look right. I'm using IE. The positioning looks fine in Firefox. Happens whether or not I'm logged in. --   Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 09:31, 20 October 2006 (PDT)

Done. Didn't seem to help. It must be something else. I'll install those extensions this evening. --Admin 13:31, 20 October 2006 (PDT)

Can you change the code to give the "jupiter" section a CSS ID? section beginning:

<div align="center" name="jupiter">

Change to this (class="center" should center the ojbect, if not use <center> tags):

<div class="center" id="jupiter">
<a href="http://www.jupiterhosting.com/"><img
 src="/images/jupiter.jpg" alt="Powered by Jupiter Hosting" border="0" /></a>

Matthew Fenton

I know this is probably a long shot, but is it possible to restore the content from the page User:MatthewFenton before it was deleted? In discussions elsewhere[[8]], he is claiming that he was trying to edit lostpedia in good faith and was unjustly banned (complete with link to his contrib log here). Part of the reason he was banned (besides than making radical edits that would have effected every image page on the site, without getting any input from others first) was because on his user page he made a declaration of bad faith. I don't remember the exact wording, but it was something along the lines of not having any intention to ever contribute to lostpedia. If it is possible to restore those comments, they would certainly further illustrate the reasons for banning him. Along the same lines, in general I think when we have vandals or people otherwise banned, we should lock their user page and potentially add the vandal template and blank out content (depending what it is), but not actually delete the page because it eliminiates some of the paper trail demonstrating why they were banned.

Also in regards to mister Fenton, what do you think about lifting the block on him? At this point he knows he is being scrutinized, and he's obviously concerned about being viewed as someone who vandalizes wikis. Best case, he might actually contribute something, or at least make useful suggestions (as it turns out, we did end up adding copyright notices to images after all). Worst case, if he causes problems again, he can simply be blocked again (and I'd recommend blocking for a specific time, with a specific reason given - if he does it again after being warned, blocks can get more severe at that point). Although at this point I'd expect him to be on his best behavior - as I'm sure he realizes, bad faith actions here can harm his credibility on wikipedia itself (Wikipedia:No personal attacks). —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Minderbinder (talkcontribs) 08:17, 20 October 2006.

I restored the old version. It's now in the page history. As for the unblocking, I really see no point. As you can see on the old version he never had any intentions of contributing in good faith. [9]. --   Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 09:22, 20 October 2006 (PDT)
I've gone a step further and restored the page to his User page. I do think its important people realise why we banned him, as he was here in bad faith and was a vandal, no matter what he wants to say. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  17:36, 20 October 2006 (PDT)

Gallery Issues

Hello All,

I've noticed the following 2 "hardcoded" problems regarding the new "Gallery" policy, which I appreciate your help with:

1. In the OceanicPassenger Character pages, the Gallery property is labeled "Images" and the gallery is accessible through a link labeled "Category", while on the MainIsland Caracter pages, the property is labeled "Gallery" and the link is labeled "Here". Though I think "Gallery and "Here" make more sense than "Images" and "Category", I care more now about using the same labeling for both types of Character pages for consistency...if anyone can unify the labeling or tell me how to, I'll greatly appreciate it.

2. I've noticed that I'm unable to edit the Gallery images for a particular character..This comes frustrating when I want to perform editing actions such as re-order the gallery images according to the story timeline, remove unrelavent images or ones of very low resolution or even add new ones.

Thank you --Nomad 11:40, 20 October 2006 (PDT)

Re:Gallery Issues

  • Example on 1st Issue:

a.Check out the OceanicPassenger Character Infobox of Jack, you'll find the 5th item labeled "Images", with a link labeled "Category", which links to the Gallery page of Jack constructed using the template: Screenshots of LOST.

b. Now, check out the MainIsland Character Infobox of Desmond, where you will find the 5th info item here labeled "Gallery", and the corresponding link labeled "Here", linking into a Gallery page that is also constructed using the template: Screenshots of LOST.

My question is, for consistency, shouldn't the labeling be unified in all pages?

  • Example on 2nd Issue:

Check out Sayid's gallery, "Category:Images_of_Sayid_Jarrah", You will find many images out of timeline order, example images of Sayid with Nadia and Inman, after images of him on the Island..Unfortunately, I currently can't edit that if I want to rearrange them in correct timed order...this among other issues.

Thanks--Nomad 17:55, 20 October 2006 (PDT)

Categories arrange by object name (image or article) by default. If you're looking for other galleries try lost-media.com. --   Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 19:05, 20 October 2006 (PDT)

User: Mediawiki default

Why is this user (a bot?) rolling back changes to pages like Mediawiki:Sidebar? Seems to be screwing with css and customization. --   Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 18:56, 20 October 2006 (PDT)

query.php

hey kevin, could you install this module(or is it installed? - i can't find it)? thanks! --kaini. 18:53, 21 October 2006 (PDT)

Yes I agree (see my request above). This is used in the popups plugin for one, which can be used to quickly revert vandalism. --   Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 10:30, 22 October 2006 (PDT)
a nifty edit-count javascript thingy relies on it too. it's just handy. --kaini. 17:11, 22 October 2006 (PDT)

Forum

Hi, I'm having trouble getting into the forum, when I try to log in Firefox wants me to open login.php in Dreamweaver, and when clicking direct links to latest threads, it wants me to do the same for showthread.php. Any ideas? -Chris[dt7] 07:11, 22 October 2006 (PDT)

Opping on Forum

Hey Admin, I've tried opping Pan, Chris, Santa and Kaini on the forum control manager but when I change their status, I can't save the changes on their profiles. Am I doing it wrong, or can only you properly change their status? Thanks, --Nickb123 (Talk) 08:26, 22 October 2006 (PDT)

Eureka - We found it

Plkrtn and I found the error in the index.php that's causing the centering. You have a center tag in the code above the google ads that's not closed with a /center tag.

Jabber and I are also working on a new CSS design Kevin, so you really need to get div tags around that advert code, so we can move it around the site design as we need to.

Also, is there any chance we can move the languages from the user bar at the top onto a menu on the side? It would be more in keeping if they were on the left menu, rather than up to! -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  21:44, 22 October 2006 (PDT)

User Richard A / Richard B

This person has been changing a lot of pages on the site. I've been going through reverting some of them, but he keeps going. Any way you can block his IP or what not?

Japanese and Brits Like Lost

I am proposing a Japanese version of LOSTPEDIA. The show is very popular in Japan, and I know a little Japanese as well. What do you think? -- Iron Man  Send a message  View contributions  12:25, 25 October 2006 (PDT)

I am also proposing a "Second English Site" for those in the UK. That way they can use Lostpedia without the spoilers! I think it would be a releif to brits, knowing that they can visit without fearing they'll run into something spoilish. Thanks And Namaste, -- Iron Man  Send a message  View contributions  13:09, 25 October 2006 (PDT)

With Lost in the UK only a week behind, I don't think it matters to have a UK Lostpedia. Also there's little point having a second English Language Lostpedia, as comparisons between the two will be made --Nickb123 (Talk) 13:17, 25 October 2006 (PDT)

Style Guide

So what ever happened to Lostpedia:Manual of Style (proposed)? This site needs something like this really bad, and this page looks just about usable. What steps need to be taken to move it from proposed to official? --Minderbinder 06:44, 27 October 2006 (PDT)

I've asked your question here: Lostpedia_talk:Manual_of_Style_(proposed)#Are_we_ready_to_vote_on_this_policy.3F. PS: thanks for all your hard work on the wikipedia issue! --Admin 16:34, 30 October 2006 (PST)

GALLERY PAGES

What is the use of Gallery pages, linked from the Character articles through a link labeled "Category" or "Gallery" in the Info Box? By inspecting the Fair Use regulations for the use of Images, we can all find the regulation summed up in the the Lostpedia:Manual of Style (proposed) as follows:

Images The use of images within LostPedia is encouraged, but under the caveat of fair use. As LostPedia is hosted within the United States of America, United States copyright law applies. Fair use allows sites like LostPedia to be able to create and collate research, and use images to illustrate the research. This means that you can use images to highlight a statement within an article, but cannot use images to create galleries.

A regulation we all should know by now, especially since the Gallery sections, which included images used on its own with no illustrative purpose in the articles, were all omitted.

However, just a click a way, you can go now to a Gallery Page, and not just a section, full of images that are used on its own and not displayed in any article. Yes, the gallery pages include as well the few images that appear in the article, among the majority of images that do not appear in any article at all, but even this is an inefficient duplication of images, isn't it ?

So if we seriously intend to conform to Fair Use, removing the gallery section then hiding these violating images in a new page, accessible through a link from the article is not really the right move. I strongly suggest to all Admins removing these gallery pages all together, along with their links from the article pages, as they are of no appropriate use. I also suggest deleting any images in Lostpedia that are not displayed in any article. It is a move that may upset some, but I believe will strengthen the credibility of our portal

Thanks--Nomad 09:06, 29 October 2006 (PST)

I agree, if we're going to claim fair use, we must comply with the requirements of fair use. We should make a policy regarding images not used in an article. --Admin 16:36, 30 October 2006 (PST)
  • I totally agree. I am logging off now, but greatly care to be of any help on this matter, if possible. I look fwd to discuss this more when I come back.

Thank you -- 16:45, 30 October 2006 (PST)

Wiki-related help.

This isn't related to Lostpedia, but I thought that since you're an administrator of a wiki, you might be able to help. In the wiki that I recently created, whenever I try to make a thumbnail image, it says "Incomplete GD library configuration: missing function imagecreatefromjpeg" where the image should be. Can you help me? --Fezir 13:56, 30 October 2006 (PST)

You should reinstall GD and make sure to compile php with GD support. --Admin 16:26, 30 October 2006 (PST)
Don't mean to be a bother, but could you tell me how to do that, or link me a tutorial? Thanks. --Fezir 07:23, 1 November 2006 (PST)

Second group of languages.

Hey, I wrote to you before about it and I didn't get an answer.
I'd like to know when Lostpedia's second group of languages is going to arrive, and what languages are included. Thanks, Obi-Dan Kenobi 15:18, 31 October 2006 (PST)

It's on the list of things to do. It will probably happen with the next MediaWiki software update, which will probably happen next week. Right now, I'm planning on Hebrew and Japanese. I'll take one more look in the forum before I make the final decision. Any requests? --Admin 15:33, 31 October 2006 (PST)
