  • I'm not really sure what to do about watermarked images. If we took it in low resolution, and used one image to illustrate the article, it might be okay, but I'm unfamiliar with the issues involved. I've deleted it for now. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T 17:24, 11 March 2007 (PDT)

The presence or absence of a mark such as this one doesn't make any difference at all about the use of copyrighted material. It helps identify the source and/or the copyright owner, and helps alert the viewer to the fact that if anyone claims that the image is in the public domain, such a claim is bullshit. Like a (C) sign, it does not make the image any "more copyrighted" than the unmarked image already was without it. An unmarked copyrighted image is no less copyrighted than a marked one. Yes, but it's still only information. It does not matter if an image has a watermark, a (C), the autograph of the photographer, or none of those, it still makes no difference in its copyright status. Just throwing my two cents in, yeah, the watermark just displays where the image originated. There was a big problem a while back with the site eBaum's world stealing pictures w/o watermarks from comedy sites and placing their own watermark on it. All I did was add a link to the infobox so people didn't think it meant he was 10 when he met Tricia Tanaka, and just fo the record, I didn't put that "he was 10 in the Tricia Tanaka flashback", that was someone else. *Mothven*

Orphaned Pages

I've been trying to clear out the orphaned pages a bit. There are a couple parody pages that are categorized correctly but I really can't figure out what else they would even need to link to. I thought maybe making a nav-parody would work, but I don't know if that would clear them off the orphaned list and I doubt I have that kind of coding knowledge. Spoiler Policy

I noticed this conversation and have a question of my own. I have a MacPro G4 extra computer (I primarily use PCs but I was given this) and was told there is some hardware I can purchase that will allow me to shore my cable into the mac and provide HDTV. Anychance you may know what this is, as I already have the VLC media player you spoke of using so I may be able to replicate what you've got going on. Eddie Kitsis

I was wondering about the rationale for renaming this article being insufficient. Aren't most articles on cast/crew in Lostpedia based on how they are credited (specifically for Lost, if they are credited with variations in different work), rather than nicknames? In this sense we should change Henry Ian Cusick to Ian Cusick, etc. IMO it opens a can of worms to use nicknames. Anyways I wanted to check with you first. Flashbacks

Last time I added the flashback character names to the nav, Nick reverted it back saying people don't want to be spoiled. I'm not aware of MrLeaf's compromise? -Chris[dt7]

Database Error

On my Watchlist, I have the "Manual of Style" page marked, and an email notification system ser up for it. Today, I clicked on the link http://lostpedia.com/index.php?title=Lostpedia_talk:Manual_of_Style_proposed&diff=0&oldid=235897 

and it came up with a Database Error saying...

I don't appreciate you dismissing all of my arguments as "straw man" arguments. Repeatedly using that tactic is very rude and does not contribute to the discussion. I do not understand why you couldn't argue the facts instead of calling me names. Were you trying to be funny? I fail to see how or why you invoked straw man. Specifically, I fail to see how I was changing your words. I stick to my conclusion, which could be written thusly: "If the urban dictionary definition cannot be used as a litmus test, then it cannot be used. You edited what I said to suit your purposes. I never said that it should not be used at all. I said it shouldn't be used as a litmus test. You didn't argue the point that it that if it shouldn't be used as a litmus it shouldn't be used at all, but instead you misrepresented what I said for the purpose of your own argument. It sounds like we are disagreeing about the usage of "cannot be used" versus "cannot be used as a litmus test".   3. Jenn Boneza (as Dharma Welcomer) Although I am 99% sure of this one.

  4. Hurley hugging Charlie.

protected page?

why is Image:3x21 looking glass hatch.jpg protected? Actually it seems a lot of the screenshots you upload are protected. What's the deal? The reason I ask is that I brightened it up so it's a little more clear, as seen here. -Sloths 15:16, 19 May 2007 (PDT)
