Hey
Hey Joe, no way are you that same Joe as on the podcast...? Surprised you have the passion to be on here, I heard you edit the Lost magazine too (so you're even a Lost fanatic in your spare time lol). For editing, I'd suggest you start by looking at the following pages:
In particular, the Lostpedia:General usage guide would be good to use. Some of the help pages aren't brilliantly detailed, and so if you're ever stuck, we're all quite friendly on here.
In answer to your specific questions:
- Links are really easy. If say I wanted to link to Jack, I'd do [[Jack]], which makes Jack.
- New pages are also really easy to get. Just write the title in the search bar, and then when "no results" comes up it gives you the option to create a page under that name.
- For uploading pics, on the bottom left of the screen you should see "upload file" and then just follow the instructions. Jpgs work the best for it.
Hope that helps ya, and as I say just lemme know if you need anything else. Nice to have someone official on the site. Also, are the rumours that you're trying to do a deal with Sky for a podcast true??? Regards, --Nickb123 (Talk) 12:33, 13 November 2006 (PST)
- Ah right. Yeah would be cool. Good luck editing. Oh and when you leave comments on someone's talk page, add --~~~~ at the end so it identifies what user wrote the comment. You don't have to write it each time, when editing theres a lil box above next to a red cross that looks like a signature. You just click that. Anywayz, have fun :-) --Nickb123 (Talk) 12:51, 13 November 2006 (PST)
That wasn't cocky...
Sorry if you thought it was, I was just throwing out that I have a conflicting view. Didn't mean to offend you. --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:41, 21 November 2006 (PST)
Lostgeek joe. Next time you call a SysOp or any other member here a "cocky tw*" or anything similar you'll be getting a weeks ban. Learn some respect or lose your privilege. -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 14:54, 21 November 2006 (PST)
- Its fine Paul, he just misinterpreted my comment. No harm done. --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:56, 21 November 2006 (PST)
Re:Podcast
Hehe no it wasn't me, a couple of peeps have asked cause I mentioned about speaking to Annabel. Also, in regards to what you said, I agree they definitely lift from the site - and she knew of the site when I mentioned it in my email to her, so they're obviously at least aware. And yeah, a mention would be awesome cheers --Nickb123 (Talk) 08:28, 27 November 2006 (PST)
- Yeah she seemed very nice. And in terms of their own articles, I don't see a problem with it (I think there is already an Iain Lee one). The only thing though is that I dunno whether it would be a good idea to detail about e.g. their involvement with Channel 4 and Sky etc - I know during the Lost Experience there was big problems with revealing information about the people behind it lest Channel 4 tell them off. But I think an article for them could still work --Nickb123 (Talk) 08:46, 27 November 2006 (PST)
subnet block
I have lifted this block for now, however if vandalism resumes from this subnet it will probably get blocked again. -- Jabberwock talk contribs email - 08:28, 4 December 2006 (PST)
- Yeah the problem is that AOL isn't the real internet. They proxy most of their web traffic, making it difficult to block a single IP or a single user. -- Jabberwock talk contribs email - 08:35, 4 December 2006 (PST)
Rewrite noms
Hi Joe, to nominate a page for a rewrite just put {{Rewrite|_________}} at the top of the page, putting in ___ what areas the page needs working on. If you want to further elaborate on your reasoning, you can also post a new heading in the article talk page, but its up to you. What page is it out of interest? --Nickb123 (Talk) 06:11, 14 April 2007 (PDT)
- Lol yeah I was thinking then "the United Kingdom page got featured as one of our best articles...", but yeah I see what you mean about the "...in Lost" page, its pretty lame. I might nominate it for next week's Lostpedia:Article Attack. Its where we pick the worst article we can find every week and have a little contest for who can do the best edits on it. It seems like a pretty good candidate with a lot of potential. --Nickb123 (Talk) 06:21, 14 April 2007 (PDT)
