Sig Totally Jacked
For some reason my signature is jacked up. I hope to fix it soon.--scocub 22:35, 31 August 2006 (PDT)
Hey, I can't see any formula problems in your sig, so must be something else. Try below doing:
--~~~~ and lemme see what it creates....
Also, might wanna try going on your preferences, make sure firstly that "raw signatures" is ticked, then in your "nickname" bit do {{User:Scocub/autosig}} as I say you've already made one. This might help, if not then I'll ask around for you ok. Good luck, --Nickb123 (Talk) 03:00, 1 September 2006 (PDT)
I followed your instructions exactly but I still get the same weird box. I'm sure I'm making some bonehead mistake but I just can't see it. Here is something I did figure out, after I save the page, if I then go back and delete the space between --{{User:Scocub/sig} and the timestamp it seems to correct itself but that is kind of crazy because evertime I added a comment I have to do two edits.--scocub 07:44, 1 September 2006 (PDT)
Here's the sig with the edit --scocub07:44, 1 September 2006 (PDT)
- To get it without time box type ~~~ it doesn't show the date but if someone needs to find the date they can go the page history. I had this problem for a long time ago. Then Admin updated the site and it stopped doing it. There is something else I want to talk to you about though. Can you please change the colors of your Top ten favorite episodes box? It is just exactly like mine. If you copied it off my userpage I don't care, many others have too, if you could just change the colors that would be great. If you have any questions just leave a post on my talk page.--CaptainInsano 11:25, 1 September 2006 (PDT)
- Thanks for helping me with my jacked up sig, and yeah, the Lost Connection's page is looking good, im thinking about adding some stuff to the sawyer insults on the dvd pages, but yeah, im should be working on college essays (2 years out of highschool and im still not in college (i wonder if lost has to do with any of that?))--TimDM85 (Talk) 23:59, 8 September 2006 (PDT)
How to get involved
- A very good point to start adding info we don't have is destubbing stubs. Go to Category:Stubs and pick one to improve.
- If you have wiki scrpt skills you can improve the appearance of templates or individual pages.
- Look for a piece of information we don't have and create an article.
- Check the theories and if none matches yours discuss it with others and then create its own entry.
But best of all speak with everybody and make lots of friends. Thank you and namaste. --GodEmperorOfHell 05:58, 3 September 2006 (PDT)
editing
- Haha I was wondering. What I mean is your userpage has an enormous amount of work, more than mine, more than most users. You already have a sig for heaven's sake. Editing a page is much easier: click edit. Then correct a typo, or make some other obvious addition, and click submit. There are tons of edits that are that easy. Just browsing through Lostpedia I see many edits like this immediately. And you already know headers (==) and bullets (*). No sandbox necessary there. 99.9% of the big work is in the content-- not the formatting, not the colors, not the background, not the tables, not the userpages. People come to Lostpedia for the information. So it's just that I'd never seen a contribution list skewed like yours so I was curious. It's about the content. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T11:24, 5 September 2006 (PDT)
S2 DVDs
Hey Scocub! Welcome, first off... it looks like you have the S2 DVDs that just came out today. What do you think so far? I wanted to let you know that I did have a question about your Rose edit, I think that deleted scene sounds *very* interesting, but I don't think it should be included in the main section, which is canon (and Deleted Scenes are considered deuterocanon... once supposed to be included, but deleted for a reason). I am not 100% positive on this rule myself, so I left a msg at http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Talk:Deleted_scenes . At any rate, it's not to discourage you or anything, it's more for my own knowledge and clarification (my guess is those scenes are best left on the Deleted Scenes page. Thanks and take care. --PandoraX 14:04, 5 September 2006 (PDT)
Wow
...very eloquently said, in our current debate. :) PS, we got chat going, link is in forum. --PandoraX 12:39, 6 September 2006 (PDT)
DVD
We were discussing this before, and I work for a few other fan sites and this pops up there also. My understanding is that ABC has a very open policy on use of screencaps for sites that are clearly fan-sites, since it's all promotional... so long as we aren't ripping off their copyrighted logos and trying to profit off of it. We have always used screencaps pretty liberally with this policy, since lostpedia is the ultimate fansite encyclopedia. I think you should have no problems with it, but of course, the ultimate decision is up to sysops (though I believe they have always done the same). --PandoraX 10:49, 7 September 2006 (PDT)
Stubs
Hey allow me. If you think a page is big enough and so doesn't need to be a stub anymore, all you do is remove the stub template. It should appear as {{stub}} on the feed somewhere. Pulling that takes it off the list. Cool you're trying to sort em, the list is HUGE at the moment --Nickb123 (Talk) 10:45, 8 September 2006 (PDT)
I often just let the person who put the stub tag up decide, but sometimes when it's obvious that it's fairly fixed up, and the original "stubber" is nowhere in sight, I do remove it myself like Nick said. I agree, Alcohol is pretty de-stubbed. --PandoraX 12:12, 8 September 2006 (PDT)
Lost Connections screen capture?
Would you also be able to take a screen capture of the Mysterious Figure Waving in Season 2's Bonus: Phase 3 Lost Connections? I've started a new topic and cannot find a picture. I'm guessing this is because the DVD just came out and all ^^
Please let me know, thank you! Ash
Thanks for putting that screencapture of MWF. I don't have the S2 DVD and I couldn't find a good pic of the MWF. Thanks again! --Marik7772003 17:34, 9 September 2006 (PDT)
LTDA rebroadcast
Thanks for that. Frontpage is updated for the week. --plkrtn 05:46, 13 September 2006 (PDT)
Been There, done that...
Hey thanks, but I thought I renamed it last night....Check the page, the old name should now redirect to the new title --Nickb123 (Talk) 15:23, 15 September 2006 (PDT)
- It certainly can have more than one, and apologies for me not noticing, I'll rename it right away! --Nickb123 (Talk) 05:26, 16 September 2006 (PDT)
stubs
- I don't think LP has an official policy on destubbing. Unofficially, there are some editors who simply leave it to the original stubber. However other editors create stubs, never intending to add more to the article. If you want my opinion, and that's all it is, it is that you can try several things: 1) ask the original author or stub adder about your reasons for destubbing, or 2) go ahead and destub, but don't forget to explain your rationale clearly in the article talk. Your edit summary should direct questions to the talk. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T03:17, 19 September 2006 (PDT)
Season 3
I see the press release for 11/1 episode... I'll work on updating Season 3 in a few. -- Jabberwock talk contribs email - 12:24, 16 October 2006 (PDT)
Thanks (news)
- thanks for the news. I really appreciate it that the news items were really nicely formatted already too; thank you for taking the time to do that. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T01:53, 3 November 2006 (PST)
Pics
Hey Scocub, I've been going through uploaded pics and noticed you don't tag your pics very often. Just in future, can ya check out Lostpedia:Use of Images and use the appropriate templates - it just covers us with copyrighting issues. This ain't me having a go, just something hopefully every regular user will start adhering to as a result of the site getting bigger. Cheers mate, --Nickb123 (Talk) 17:00, 3 November 2006 (PST)
Re: Andrew Divoff
I know, I was just wondering why the entire page was nomed for deletion considering the man was still credited. I agree with you about whether or not he did portray Eyepatch man. --SilvaStorm
Divoff here too
Hi Scocub, Thank you for your message. Several points to adress, there. First of all, if the style of my last comment on the talk page seemed "excessive", it was in good humour, trying to make you smile while I am making my point, if you will. I tend to do that a lot, but I should know that it doesn't always come across as intended. I may have failed to convey the idea as clearly as I intended, and I apologize if it was poorly worded and was interpreted differently. I'll try to put it in a more serious style here. In my fist comment on the talk page, I was not sure what your were questioning exactly. After you clarified, I did understand that you said Divoff was credited in the episode. In my second comment, I was not requestioning that at all. I was actually adressing your proposition to still wait for further confirmation before crediting him as Eyepatch man. That was the point about which we still disagreed. I think the issue can be summarized as follows. To quote from your message: "Not that I don't agree that the eyepatch man is Divoff now that I see that he is credited (...)" That's obvious to me too and, you see, for me this is more than enough confirmation: the credited actor is actually seen playing the character in the episode and we all agree on that. Usually, at least as far as I know, we don't need further confirmation. For example, when we see Julie Bowen play Sarah in an episode for the first, we don't wait until Damon tells us in a podcast that "yes, guys, I hereby swear under oath that the actress Julie Bowen, who was credited in that episode, does indeed play the character of Sarah that you have seen her play in the episode." (Oh damn, there I go again, falling into another attempt at humour-through-exaggeration. Sorry, sorry. I guess I just can't help it. Hoping you're getting used to it by now, though.) So, I'm afraid that's where we don't understand each other's position: I don't understand why you need to wait for a secondary confirmation when everything is already known from the best possible of all sources, the episode itself, and apparently you don't understand why I don't need to wait as you do. Finally, I believe Rodriguez, Sanchez and Santoro were or are "starring" (main) characters, which is why their names appear automatically. On the other hand, "also starring" (supporting) characters are credited only for the episodes where they play (I don't think we've seen any exception to this formula, but I may be wrong on this, please let me know if you think of examples to that effect). Cheers! <--(that's actually the salutation)
(that one's just my signature)--> -- Cheers 09:33, 6 November 2006 (PST)
- The Wikipedia page credits Divoff as "Patchy" or "Eyepatch man", as he's more commonly known. Besides, the resemblence between the actor and the character is obvious. --SilvaStorm
Re: A Little Late
Yeah, I saw that, but just felt I had to finish my part in the issue. --SilvaStorm
- And you can shut the hell up, man, I can't see you ever becoming one! You need to control yourself in future, and treat other users with more respect. --SilvaStorm
thanks
Hey np, seriously. Thank YOU for staying on top of the news and posting such great tidbits. I had a busy week and was offline for a week, then tried to do catchup but I should've been checking the links too. Anyways I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the time you've put into finding news, and it looks like we're sneaking in some good media appearances too, and we haven't had any complaints to having multiple (up to 3 so far) items in news-- remember it used to be one only at a time. So we're making a difference, and once the new site skin comes on line, it'll all come together for a great front page. Cheers. -- C¯ _Santa_ ¯T00:40, 18 November 2006 (PST)
Job List and Sig
- Hey, since I'm here I might as well help out. For the job list check out the Community Portal and the Job List. Once you get editing you'll find things that need getting down and be able to branch off from those pages. As for your sig, i can take a look at it and fix it if you just sign say under this message or show me an example of where it is broken. Thanks -Mr.Leaf 08:39, 30 August 2007 (PDT)
Episode Commentary
- Ya, I think that'd be a great idea. See Portal:Transcripts for a list of everything we have transcribed. We are working on them but it's hard to do everything so any bit of help is much appreciated. Thanks and let me know if you have any questions. -Mr.Leaf 18:38, 6 January 2008 (PST)
