An unexplained white tennis shoe is seen in the very first scene of the show ("Pilot, Part 1"). The vision of Christian Shephard Jack sees is also wearing white tennis shoes. ("Walkabout") Christian (or a manifestation of him) is also wearing the shoes when he tells Vincent to wake Jack up immediately after the crash ("So It Begins").

When Hurley peers into the window of Jacob's cabin, he sees Christian wearing the other white tennis shoe. ("The Beginning of the End")
